Congratulations for your 20 years PLATOONIST! Always contributing with elegance in the Matrix games forums, with good ideas and positiveness. Back from the days of War In The Pacific - Struggle Against Japan, a real Wargamer and Historian!

Ah Platoonist. I had a Matrix account since circa 2009 and been reading Taifun's and your posts for years. My account was under a different name until 2020, when I merged my Slitherine account 'OldCrowBalthazor' with my Matrix Account 'Velonei_Vinnitsa.
I never commented with Velonei. I was always traveling (work) and so was a lurker, but did gather much insights from you guy's posts.

However, come 2O2O, under OldCrowBalthazor, for the first time (my public debut), I posted a question on the SC-WW1 Forum dealing with the 'Bulgarian Gambit' I pulled on Tanaka, another esteemed community member.
You were the first to respond. 😎

Note: I didn't know at the time, but the Bulgarian Gambit did seem upon hearing from others and discussions, that the moves I made on Tanaka was indeed kind of an eXploit. I felt so bad I resolved to see if I could fix this deal and posted some ideas with a different set-up for Bulgaria. Eventually, the devs took my ideas and it made it into the next patch.
Thing is, you defended my position and were kind about the whole affair. Didn't know if you knew the rest of the tale...but there it is.

Anyways ditto and congrats on making 20 years! 🤠

Congrats Platoonist! Always been a great guy!

So many things happened in the year 2020 haha. That is funny OCB I remember those days you were my first PBEM and I cannot imagine a better guy to start with. Fun times.

You guys just made me check my join date and I see I also just passed 20 years from April 03-April 23. Woah how time flies! I started out young with PacWar and UV in my college days and into WITP and WITPAE and have branched out into so many other Matrix games since. And of course fell in love with the Strategic Command games.

We had a similar post in the WITPAE forums called old timers. It also all began with me as a kid with my first Commodore 64. I've seen many others say the same. I played the hell out of Rommel: Battles for North Africa. But what really first got me hooked into the Pacific War in high school was a Nintendo game called P.T.O II:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P.T.O._II

From P.T.O II in high school to PacWar to UV in college to WITP to WITPAE in my twenties-forties. Quite a journey...

Have seen many come and go in these forums for a variety of reasons. Seem to be losing a lot of the forumers to passing these days. Makes me sad and sentimental. But life happens and life moves on.

Thanks guys! 8-) After looking at OldCrow's attachment I don't feel quite so old.

Yes--good times. Sun, surf, subs, pilots. The War in the Pacific did always have a strong appeal. I do the miss the over-the-top signature images of the early WITP days.
