Soviet Mobilization Jump 10% one turn

Post by archmache »

Why did Soviet mobilization go from 83->92 in one turn?

No DOW not too many units near Russia?

Why does this game not have clearly delineated explanations showing what will happen?

I'll need more info to understand better, e.g. what date have you reached in your game, has anyone been using diplomacy to shift the USSR, have the Japanese abandoned any key locations in Manchuria?

If you press the L key, does anything potentially relevant appear in the various reports?

Late 1941. All Manchuria locations intact, no diplomacy.

I think more of my ask was clarity into game mechanics. For example, the Argentina decision in the notes section doesn't say " if you say yes then us will swing x % towards allies " Since this is a strategy having a detailed list of the effects of decisions would really come in handy. Adding in the reports tab a mobilization graph and an explanation of what effects what would be really helpful.

Did you invade Yugoslavia?

Did you get close to Alexandria or Cairo?

Doesn't Soviet mobilization start going up in '41 every month by a certain amount? Similar to US in late '41/early '42.

Invading Yugoslavia will certainly push the Soviet Union's mobilization by a high percentage along with the back ground uptick in 1941 (and other possible Axis rampages that maybe going on.)

In one game as Axis, right after invading Yugoslavia and Greece at the same time in March (the coup fired) I got a notification that USSR was preparing for war. It seems that they got the Yugo trigger and then the Greek invasion pushed it up again. Just before that the Soviet mobilization was in the low 80s. I thought I would have a few turns before I did Barbarossa.

I had to jump on them the next turn though not ready so I wouldn't lose the surprise benefit. I believe there's a random percentage spread for these mobilization bumps.
Yugoslavia's certainly seemed dramatic. 😬
In Yugoslavia's case this makes sense considering their cultural ties to another Slavic dominated polity, like Russia, which essentially is the leading state of the Union of Soviet Socialist States.

My comrades were just somewhat restless, because it was almost 42 (!) and still no Barbarossa. German punctuality my vodka soaked @ss!
Joke aside, at 90% every country gets an automatic uptick. Maybe it was a combination of the normal 41 effect and this one?

Finally figured it out.

USSR moves ~3% per player turn during 1941. Starting in 1942 it moves an *additional* ~3% per turn.

So it moved the expected 6% plus an extra 3% due to moving into January 1942.

Case closed ... still waiting for devs to add in a list of all mobilization triggers to the game. I'd pay for for an expansion pack that had that, given this is the only video game I play.
