East Front Does Not Work

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

East Front Does Not Work

Post by TheMelancholyDonkey »

Following up on an earlier post, I've come to the conclusion that nothing about the East Front works in any way like the rules say it should. This is poorly done.

I'm currently playing the Allies. I left the East Front Control box unchecked. According to the rules, this means that the war on the East Front should transpire roughly as it did in real life. And yet, in the middle of May, 1944 the Red Army has conquered all of Yugoslavia, all of Hungary, is three hexes from Vienna, and eight hexes from Warsaw. This does not resemble their historical progress at all.

There are a lot of things I like about this game, but there are also a bunch of things that are hopelessly broken.
