Captured equipment

Post by TAIL_GUNNER »

Oye,

Is this the field in the editor that denotes a ground element can be used by the opposing side if captured?

Thank you.

In the scenario data that imports from usually refers to conversions or imports.

For example Bf109E3 can be exported to the Rumanian 109 fighters or upgrade to the Bf109E4B fighter bomber.

I have never used the editor and do not know how it works with captured equipment. But by analogy I assume so?

this represents a germanized T-34, captured tanks were partially rebuilt with german equipment (radios, commanders cupola, etc). Direct-use of captured T-34 is always possible but with higher ops losses.

I guess what I'm looking for is if there is a flag or something that must be set to denote that a specific ground element can be used by the other side if captured.

I thought maybe this was it...but it appears not.

It must be hard-coded.

Thank you for replies.

I think there is no flag but it is more generic than that. Quite simply there are two types of equipment and the data in one is that it upgrades to another. Whether that is national upgrade, import/export or conversion from captured equipment as far as the programme is concerned they are all the same. So the only way of finding converted equipment is to go through every piece of equipment and see if it has an upgrade path to something the other side uses?

If i follow this correctly, you can capture the t34, and have it over time become an asset for use, how does the asset get to a unit in game? is it done in the TOE change outside of players control when the pool is enough to do it.

Yes happens during logistics - and here is an example from the logistics log of a game.

any captured equipment may be used in case of shortages of original equipment. German units may do so after October 41 (or was it 1/42?). Dont know if soviets have a similar time limitation (although I doubt they would capture much until winter 41)
