User.xls question

On the UNITS tab of the typical USER.xls data file, do the fields “SU Type” and “CompID” have any effect on the AI or game play..?
Can any value be placed here, or is there a limited list of acceptable data for these cells?
I’m trying to add more flexibility to a units equipment in the Formation tab when a new scenario date is changed, without having 8 different choices of equipment in the editor. I think I can use these fields as a work around.

SU Types are fixed and should not be changed. To thin out the formations use the CompID to make those splits of types. CompIDs can be anything and that is the value used in formations to select hardware.
