If you want to use them simply replace the "common" folder in game with the attached zip file.
Zip file updated 210716.

Mmm. Looks great, if it replaces all the silhouettes with symbols. Thanks. But I can't get it to work. Replacing the common folder doesn't seem to result in getting rid of the silhouettes.
My 'common' folder is here; C:\Matrix Games\Flashpoint Campaigns Red Storm\Modules\FPRS\Data
I notice that there are still default subunit silhouettes in the country specific data folders. Could that be the issue?
What am I doing wrong?

Scenarios are saved with the counter artwork that was used by the creator. To replace the counter artwork that is hardcoded in the scenario file: 1) start the scenario you want to play, 2) Click on the "View" menu at the top of the screen, 3) select the last menu items entitled "Refresh subunit images from disk". That should replace the art work from what the scenario editor encoded the scenario with to what you have in your folder.
Note 1--you will have to do this each time if you want to use this artwork. In order for it to default to your artwork, you will have to go into the scenario editor and refresh the scenario to your artwork and then resave it.
Note 2--if you are building a scenario, the scenario will be hardcoded to the counter artwork you are using. Many scenario players might not like having all NATO symbols since it makes it harder to tell if your units are loaded or unloaded. That is why the design decision was made to use vehicle silhouettes. I personally like NATO symbols, but appreciate the ability to tell at a glance if my unit is loaded in vehicles or unloaded.

Ah. Many thanks, cbelva.
I like these NATO symbols a lot. Increases the immersion due to a higher feeling of realism. True, the silhouettes add clarity and ease. Might mess around with both.

Sorry for bringing up this old thread, but i had to search too long for these NATO Style markers and wanted to say thank you @grab.
I was wondering if really no one have made such a mod "for immersion" so far.
Yet this mod isn't listed on the ftp.
