Since found out that Alt-Shift-m does work but only if you select a base with Ait-2. I cannot get it to work if you select a planet.Chris21wen wrote: ↑Mon May 02, 2022 7:15 am I'm hoping this is still moniored regularly as I have a problem with mining ships and Alt-Shift-A. It doesn't work. Searching tells me it should be Alt-Shift-M, the A being a typo, but this does not work either. In doth instances I'm using Alt-2 to set detination before using either command. Help appreciated.
Alt-M works well.
I've also just found Alt-U but not tried it yet.

Re: Bacon Mod
Yes unfortunately that's something I can confirm, you can't order a mining ship to deliver directly to a planet.
However a super cheap barebones base over a planet (1 cheap reactor, 1dock, etc) is a valid target and can be built reasonably quickly even by a new colony. Maybe also send a freighter with some resources to the new colony , that'll help too.

Recent owner of distant worlds here. Just fyi, the bacon mod's exe now has over 20 malware detections when uploaded to virustotal. Thankfully, bitdefender seems to still have it whitelisted but I was curious what changes to the exe could be terrifying antiviruses so much.

Re: Bacon Mod
Attached is the last baconmod I have.
Please don't complain about virus detection as this is a known issue. I run it as do many others, but it's up to you.

Oh heavens be praised brother, thank you so much.
EDIT:
Hmm strange, I get a failed network error ... noooooooooo ... is it the same for everyone else? Otherwise it may be my overkill internet security from a certain corporation I uhhh got totally legitimately that is blocking it lol
EDIT2:
Nvm, what ya got to do is go into windows defender and have the file be restored manually, otherwise windows will keep erasing it lol.
Re: Bacon Mod
Hi,
I have a screen scaling problem with bacon mod only. I have 4k monitor and in my vanilla version with many mods in it (but not bacon mod) I learned a solution which worked perfectly. So in dw universe.exe clicking right mouse button, properties, change dpi-settings and down at the bottom ticking the box to override high dpi-settings and also changing scroll-down menu to system and extended. Then it works absolutely fine with my 4k monitor scaled correctly and so on. In bacon mod after installing it + das chrome and retreat mods the dw universe.exe does not let me change that dpi-setting anymore. It is greyed out!?! Have someone experienced this and made it work? The bacon mod works but scaling is problem.
I can always force my monitor into 1080p and play that way, but it's little annoying. I have dw 2in my library also, but I'd like to try bacon mod also before moving to dw2

Re: Bacon Mod
Is there anyway to reset the bacon exe looking for an internet connection? Somehow I got a popup from it and it mentioned something about internet connection and looked very old and I clicked X(without looking which is stupid) now the bacon mod does not work. The original game does continue to work without it but it just gives an error if I try to run any bacon mod exe. I've no idea where such a setting would be saved on the computer. I doubt anything but a full reinstall of the computer would fix it, other than some possible solution?
Edit: I was playing the bacon mod just fine and one day when I loaded that weird connection popup came up and should have nothing to do with a anti virus, as it worked just fine and that folder is excluded from it and worked fine for months.

Re: Bacon Mod
First post ever!
Could never get the Bacon mod to work under Windows 10--it kept crashing during gameplay.
But I actually tried it again with the new Distant Worlds Universe Refreshed [DWUR] mod [ https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 1#p5099711 ] and now using Windows 11 and Retreat1970's working 1.82 Bacon download link [Thanks for posting it!!!] I finally play it with no problem.
Great original game with 2 great mods to give it a nice refresh [pun intended].
Only one small problem I have [and I've checked with just a fresh install of DW with just the Bacon mod installed]: The gas mining ship and gas mining station images are used ONLY and never the mineral mining ship and station images.
This is actually mentioned in an earlier Bacon mod post [4 yrs ago][ https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 7#p4467437 ] but I never saw any response.
Is there a workaround to this? Obviously a minor [no pun intended] issue but was hoping someone may have encountered it and had a fix. Thx!

Hey Matrix! Sorry for the long time in responding. Things are a little slow on the forums these days.matrix@blackcompany. wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 6:33 pm First post ever!

I'm the guy who put together DWUR. Glad you're enjoying it!
Alvek has fixed the situation you mentioned with his "Expansion Mod" ... which is a continuation of sorts of BaconMod. Alvek is taking it on himself to work through bugs and develop more cool features.
I would encourage you to download the Expansion Mod and replace your BaconMod files with it. DWUR works seamlessly with Expansion Mod.
Enjoy!
Re: Bacon Mod
Hello! I realize this thread is very old, and that DW 2 is out and everything. I still prefer this game.
Anyway, just wanted to report on a pretty severe problem I've noticed with the terraforming. I love the feature, but the problem is it slowly (and constantly) increases the population cap... which messes with the passenger ships and migration. As soon as there's space on a planet (and other factors aligning, I imagine), a whole bunch of passenger ships all get orders to deliver population to that planet... So you'll be dumping 100s of millions of population on a planet, when it only has room for a couple million. For this reason alone, a more instant terraforming solution seems necessary. I think inspiration could be taken from Stellaris, where you pay a fee upfront (and upkeep while the process is taking place?), and then after a set time has passed (10 years?) boom, terraforming complete.
Migration AI has always frustrated me with this game. Another thing I've noticed is there seems to be a limit to the range they will migrate, regardless of how far the ships are capable of going. Yes, I had space ports built. I had a colony very far away that they refused to deliver to. After colonizing another colony inbetween the two, suddenly everything was connected and worked fine.

Re: Bacon Mod
Hello there! I remember the Bacon modder specifically mentioning an adjustment to terraforming he suggested. I can’t remember exactly where I saw this but it may well be somewhere in this same thread. Hope this helps!
Re: Bacon Mod
Hi Bacon I've got a question if you don't mind me asking which is related to the "When Establish New Colony, immediately build this base" Empire Policy setting which I don't seem to be able to find a line of anywhere and was wondering if you what the line should be written as in the .txt file and on what line it should be written because I've tried countless time and don't recall how I managed to get it to work last time so its always active as soon as the game starts without having to manually change the policy setting also to make it work for ai's because if the enemy ai also had this line written into their policy it would help them a lot with colony development by having a small spaceport being built every time they colonised a planet. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Re: Bacon Mod
You might not get an answer from Bacon because this board seems to have become a wasteland since DW2 came out and sometimes it can take months for a mod author to check it for questions.XerKB101 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 5:24 pm Hi Bacon I've got a question if you don't mind me asking which is related to the "When Establish New Colony, immediately build this base" Empire Policy setting which I don't seem to be able to find a line of anywhere and was wondering if you what the line should be written as in the .txt file and on what line it should be written because I've tried countless time and don't recall how I managed to get it to work last time so its always active as soon as the game starts without having to manually change the policy setting also to make it work for ai's because if the enemy ai also had this line written into their policy it would help them a lot with colony development by having a small spaceport being built every time they colonised a planet. Anyway, to answer your question, I'm not an expert on Bacon mod by any stretch but I think the only way you can do what you need is individually edit every race's .txt file in the policy sub-folder. Either that or load a race, edit their policy and then save it I've saved my own personal policy that I load-up for whatever race I want to play so that the rest still have their default.
Re: Bacon Mod
Hi thanks for the response, personally I've tried to edit every single race's policy.txt file however the issue is that there is absolutely no way to know what I'm supposed to type and for what line its supposed to be at since even if you save the policy to immediately build a small space port for your ideal policy or the race's policy it doesn't actually save the change you made for some reason. Which is the main problem I'm facing since I've tried as many different combinations as I could think of but not a single one worked. Regardless I appreciate the effort thank you.jayman wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 12:36 pmYou might not get an answer from Bacon because this board seems to have become a wasteland since DW2 came out and sometimes it can take months for a mod author to check it for questions.XerKB101 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 5:24 pm Hi Bacon I've got a question if you don't mind me asking which is related to the "When Establish New Colony, immediately build this base" Empire Policy setting which I don't seem to be able to find a line of anywhere and was wondering if you what the line should be written as in the .txt file and on what line it should be written because I've tried countless time and don't recall how I managed to get it to work last time so its always active as soon as the game starts without having to manually change the policy setting also to make it work for ai's because if the enemy ai also had this line written into their policy it would help them a lot with colony development by having a small spaceport being built every time they colonised a planet.
