Command Air Strikes Question

The team behind the award-winning game Advanced Tactics is back with a new and improved game engine that focuses on the decisive early days of World War II! Decisive Campaigns: The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris is the first in an innovative series of operational World War II wargames that also include a strategic element. The Blitzkrieg from Warsaw to Paris simulates Germany’s military successes in Poland and France in 1939 and 1940 (including also a hypothetical “Sea Lion” invasion of Great Britain).

Command Air Strikes Question

Post by leftydad »

It says on page 16 of the manual that you can use the OOB tab to command air strikes. How does that work? Anybody know? I basically have to hunt around the map for the air counters. Must be a better method.

Good question, i've been hunting around the map for my air units. After reading your post i went and checked the OOB screen, i can't even get my air units to show in the OOB screen, even when i click the air box. It must be a typo, but i am curious why my air units don't show in the OOB window.

I forgot how good these games are and how much fun they are to play, even with an abundance of clicking. WTP may be my favorite of the bunch as i've logged the most hours into it over the years. For this average gamer it seems pretty well balanced.

Looking forward to the new Decisive Campaigns game in a few months.

My air units don't show up in the OOB screen either. There really should be a way to see of list of air units in the OOB screen and also a list of enemy cities with VP (and their locations.)

It looks as if the game never had that feature completed.

I checked DC-Case Blue, and the air units are listed in the OOB tab. No so in CD-Blitz.

Got to be some kind of bug. There's an air box to tick in the OOB screen, what's that for then?

In DC-Case Blue the "air box" doesn't work either, but the air groups are listed along with the ground forces. So at least they can be located without having to hunt all over the map.

I'm answering a bit late I think but in OOB you have to also tick NON-FRONTLINE UNITS.

Currently playing with latest patch BfwtP and this does not work, air units not showing must be a bug that should have been fixed by now.

To be fair, this game was released in 2010. Not sure you are going to get any official support 12 years after the fact.

Sorry to raise this from the dead, but just bought this to test the series (may get DC: Ardennes later) and still outstanding. I know we're in 2024 now but there was an update in 2018, so 6 years.

If you're trying to sort Case White with flying arty like Stukas it would be handy to see your air arty assets in the OOB tab just like you can see your ground arty++ assets. I haven't turned West yet but imagine it would help there too.

Surely if it's in the other games in the series (OB, CB, AO) wouldn't be hard to get in this one for completeness?

There is a somewhat 'kludgey' (depending on PoV) solution for this. Go to OOB Tab, select OOB at left, make sure you've 'AIR' and 'NON-FRONTLINE UNITS' checked, then select your Army Group, it should show Air Units assigned to that AG. Clicking on an air unit should then centre the map on its location.

Really best to have all checkboxes checked here- LAND, NAVY, AIR, NON-FRONTLINE UNITS- then filter out what you DON'T want to see.

He is still offering it for sale therefore he should still support it.
