Free Deploy utility searches for maps

Post by Comrade_Blabsky »

The Free Deploy utility looks in the original CC3 maps folder right now, so be forewarned that you need to have the same map in that folder as the one in CoI's folder that was the basis of the battle. Notice that the default drop-down when loading the battle is CC3 as well; scroll through your PC list to find CoI CC3/Games/Battles.

Hey Comrade......

Long time no see....

I ran into this problem with FreeDeploy and COI.. The easiest solution i found was just to install CC3..... A bit combersome to switch between folders and such but it is a workable solution....

Drop by the BHQ CC:COI room sometime.. Chances are you might just catch me there...

BTW.. Is there gunna be a pacmod update for COI.... looking forward to play a certain comrade in some ops....heheheheh

take care and c ya around

Hey Pardner!! Still in God's country?

I think Pac is in line. It could use a couple tweaks, but otherwise should be easily adaptable.  Heard from Ron Gretz?

I been working on adapting/updating Tombstone's  Vietnam mod and Schrecken is the Man who puts it all together. So that one is definitely in line.  Maybe we can meet in the jungle, if I try to get the BHQ thing going.

I do plan on visiting BHQ...been busy, and it also might be new PC time for this bitter old socialist. Talk at you soon.

CC on all my PC's

Post by Comrade_Blabsky »

Oh, and CC3 IS installed.  That's how I was able to make a few free deploy ops before I tried to use a CoI map for one.

Someone without too much HD storage could simply keep the stock CC3 maps, and temporarily copy the requested map for use with the free deploy utility.

Thought about that, but there was in my oppinion too many unknown variables that could prevent it from working with COI.... I guess I could of tested it that way instead of installing cc3 again.... I just went for what I knew would work without question.....

Its looking for something more than just that map folder BTW..  i.e.

C:\Games\Stratagy\Close Combat III\Maps                      ///  This is my CC3 map directory
C:\Program Files\Close Combat\Close Combat III\Maps      ///   This is my COI map directory
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You notice the simularities in these two location strings.. They are for the most part identical

The ONLY problem I have is that the COI install doesnt give you the option to install in your own custom directories.......  There is no reason for this IMHO....
