So, final verdict?

Post by zasgard »

The game is on sale at Steam and was eyeballing it. Has the game gotten better or is still not worth it?

Whether it is worthwhile or not is really in the eye of the beholder. I bought it but don't play it very often because I prefer other games.

As said above, whether the game is worth the price is subjective.

I like the game a lot and have enjoyed playing the campaign several times. I only wish there was additional content available for it.

in my opinion the by far most disappointing of all close combat games. 3d engine did it no favours. at least not the way it's been done here.

Long-time chief developer made extensive upgrades to game mechanics. The game engine has some issues with team/soldier identification. The prevailing consensus is that it's not as pretty as it's "stardew valley" predecessors.

The game improves with the Veteran Mod... really it is the only mod with a lot of content.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

The AI in TBF is improved with a Fog of War mod simply by making VLs invisible and neutral deploy tiles indistinguishable from enemy tiles. The AI still sees the difference and benefits markedly from the players ignorance, particularly on defense. The scenario files can be easily edited in Notepad to give the AI side more troops and multiple offboard fire missions.
