Update 3.0 ETA?

Post by Phoenix100 »

Well, I hate to ask this, but is there an ETA for update 3 and getting the event engine working in this game etc?

Thanks.

Late 2022, early 2023

There's A LOT of scripting and testing that needs to be done, of course.

Thanks! That means another year after that before we get to the EF title?

Or two, yes.

All games get worked on in tandem.

East Front III, while the engine is there and ready to go, it has only a handful of content. That's the time consuming part - OOB's, Maps, Scenarios, Scripting.

2.30 will probably be released next week.

I thought it would be this week, but doesn't look like it now.

Looks like the 2.30 update got pushed down the Matrix priority list.

Folks at Matrix were presumably busy with the launch of RTW3 last week, but I am very excited for 2.30 CSME. Hopefully we get it this week.

There was some issues with the installer they provided.

Hopefully they can remedy it this coming week.

Positive vibes!

The first installer for the 2.30 UPDATE did not pass Berto's checks last week.

We've recommended to Slitherine/Matrix a complete remaster of the game in order to ensure that all is at it should be.

Still waiting on that.

Thanks for update.
Guess that means I’ll have plenty of time to finish my Week In Binh Long campaign in CS Vietnam of which I’m on turn 110 and loving it.
I will admit it took a few turns to get used to following the orders, but it’s a mighty fine campaign when you get into it.
The random appearance of VC and NVA units is, while sometimes annoying, a lot of fun.
My LRRPs in Cambodia aren’t having much fun though.
Great game.

*chuckles* Glad you're enjoying the campaign so far!

Exciting times to be had in that campaign!

I ended up with only one LRRP team at the end of the scenario. John Wayne. The others were all killed in Cambodia.

Did you start it with the 1.30 UPDATE? or did you start it before hand?

With the LRRP teams in Cambodia, it's about calling in airstrikes or ambushing units.

Of course, there are NVA patrols looking for you, so be careful.

The longer you spend in Cambodia with your LRRP's, the more points you'll gain.

I actually started it three times.
First time the size was a bit off putting.
Second time I got to turn 70 and the update was pending so I stopped.
Third time, this time, I began it from the beginning with the 1.30 update.
As for the LRRPs, I don’t appear to have much time to call in air strikes, as I am constantly running away from large numbers of NVA patrols.
I also lost a Huey that a I sent to bring the LRRP team out, so they’re now on foot trying to cross back into Vietnam.
Great game and when you get used the the size of the Week In campaign really good fun.
I did download the maps of the area you posted, which are very useful.

Oh that's great! I'm glad they are useful!

I wish I had them in the beginning of my campaign. *laughs*

Since you started with 1.30, you should notice some differences than I experienced, especially in the first couple/few days. That will be exciting for you!

There is an issue around turn 325, (nothing serious), but when we release 1.31 it should remedy that. Or I can send you the file via email so you have it ready.

Just an FYI

Still no installer for the 2.30 UPDATE from Matrix/Slitherine for us to QC.

Looks like we're at the bottom of the priority list.
