Regime Stats error

Post by lion_of_judah »

have the most recent update for this game. The scenario is the second American civil war, that myself and Ernie worked on years ago. It also is saved and up to date version wise. When I click on a regime, then regime states, the game crashes.

Can you send me a save game. And describe exactly what you do to get the CTD. Leave nothing out, please.

Sorry, I don't seem to have gotten it. Did you send to atg@vrdesigns.net?

It went into my junk folder

OK, this is a mess. You have a problem that is not easily fixable right now. I am on verge of some travel, so I don't know how quickly I'll be able to fix this.

The problem is that you don't have string lists for the officer algorithm set right. First, there aren't any for the regimes, that is the stringlist that has all the info to set up officers, as in ANewDawn. But, the problem is that they are set to 0 somehow, and there are no stringlists with ID=0, this it comes back with an index = -1, which is out of range. But, you can't create a stringlist and give it an ID=0, it must be > 0.

Somehow, when importing or editing, things got set incorrectly. Like I said, I don't see a stringlist for the officer algorithm, but they must have been there if the previous scenario worked.

I'll have to work around this and build a failsafe, which probably shouldn't have been needed. I think I might be able to get you a file with the IDs set to -1, and then you will have to fix it.

Thanks, appreciate it. So how do I set the ID's once you work your magic?

You click on the button for it, and then choose from a list that is all the stringlists. The one you've made into your officer algo, for that nation you can use. If you don't want to use an officer algo (the one that makes random officers) just set it as an empty officer algorithm stringlist that you've made.
