FALSE ISSUE - 1.00.07 - Destroyers vs transports in port

I did not install the latest patch yet and I am not sure if something has been done in the meantime.
But, I don't understand this result.

According to the game scale, a Destroyer group: 5-7 light cruisers + escorts or a destroyer patrol. And a transport group is not defined, interesting.

So here is the situation. I have detected 1 transport ship in port.

There is nothing else to notice. No AAA gun or whatever. For WP2, does port will have coastal battery level? I am adding this to the wishlist thread.

So I have three DD groups in position. Again, according to the game scale, this is 15-21 light cruisers + escorts or 3 destroyer patrols.

And I am doing a naval attack against this unescorted transport group.

And guess what, one DD group is sunk and another one is lightly damaged. Are you kidding me?

I have lost 7-9 destroyers attacking one unescorted transport ship in port. This is not the first time I am seeing these results. It varies from I am destroying the transport group without damage to the transport group is undamaged and my DD groups are sunk.

This is the case here. I did not even touch any transports. What is the rule here? Does port have guns simulated?

You are mistaken sir. All ports have a level of defense against ships. Page 54 of the updated manual

Ports—Ports range from a size 1 to a size 9. A port with a capacity of 5 or higher repairs naval units. Some ports between size 2 and 4 maybe be upgradable when a land unit with the engineer specialty is present at the port. Ports generate 20 port supply stockpiles for every point of capacity they have. Each supply stockpile supplies 1 strength point of land or air unit. Ports of sizes 2-4 also protect ships from being attacked. Ships reduced to zero strength in a port have a high chance of not being sunk and of having 1 strength. Ports of sizes 1 to 4 are vulnerable to being attacked by an enemy surface fleet. Each port has a port defense of 5. Ports of size 5 or higher may not be attacked by enemy surface fleets. Any number of naval groups may supply at a major port. Minor ports are limited to supplying as many naval groups as their port size. Ports can hold any number of naval groups but minor ports, size 1 to 4, have a supply restrictions and may not repair naval groups.

This is incredible. I am still discovering things. So, it was a bad idea to attack this lonely transport group...

Next game will have more available map data on a toggle.
