Away for a while oddities

Post by stjeand »

So I have been away for a while and picked this back up...

Started two games...one Axis one Allies multiplayer.

Both were accepted by different players.
Both are 1941
But the maps are different.

HOW is that possible?

I stated the game.

As the Allies the Axis player invaded the DEI around Batvia and took it turn 1.
Isn't that no longer possible?

I tried that in my Axis game and the island beaches have been removed.

Could he be playing an older version and it is using his version even though I created the game?

In the message box, don't you have the indication of the version used by the other player?
This is strange, I think you are right, the player version was used.

Landings near Batvia is no more possible.

I was under the impression that whoever created the game was the version used.

This appears to not be the case.

I checked and it clearly states version is 1.00.063 and that is NOT the case.
Something is very wrong.
You can clearly see the island and invasions along with the version.

Agree, this is not the correct version.

Depends who started the game and what version they have. The player that makes the challenge uses their files.

Thus for WP2 I am putting in a special data code to tell users this scenario was made by the developer and no one has modified it.

I started both.

1 as Allies
1 as Axis

As the Axis the DEI is uninvadable.

As the Allies, well you can see here.

BOTH have different maps.

So appears to follow whoever accepted the game not who started it.

AH OKAY...so basically whatever version the Axis player has is what you are getting.

I thought it was who created it.

That helps.

But, the multiplayer already indicates the version used by your opponent. Is there not a possibility to do a simple check to verify if this is the same version?

If not, put a popup to say your game is not at the right level for your planned opponent, be sure to upgrade it first.
I am not accepting challenge when the game is not at the same version, but looks like people do.

Since I think Steam obliges to have the latest version, this will oblige users, outside of Steam, to have the latest patch.

Oddly in the Text within the game it said it was latest version...but as you saw it was not.

Absolutely. Perhaps it can be enhanced: Axis - v1.00.063 -- Allies - v1.00.00

The new version of the patches now auto updates from my end so there are no mistakes.

This is not the point. I think stjeand has created an Axis challenge with patch 1.06.3. Someone with patch 1.00.00 has accepted it and, as such, has created a game with 1.00.00 and not 1.06.3. A check must prevent this.

@stjeand, starting patch 1.00.07, there is now a check. If I am selecting a game with another version that mine (i.e. 1.00.07), it won't allow it.

Thanks Alvaro

Great...

Honestly I do not mind playing an earlier version, figuring out which one it is was the issue.

Thanks Al.
