Submarine evasion

Post by jason oates »

I have a submarine that has a sonorbouy detected nearby.
Im under the layer at about 800 feet.
Is it a good idea to come to a complete stop and not change depth, or make a varied depth run for the horizon?
Any suggestions or proffered tactics would be good

I think I lack information to decide.

How close is the sonobuoy?

In what direction is it relative to your desired course?

strength of the thermocline?

propulsion of your submarine?

is the ocean floor at a practicable depth?

if not, is there a CZ?

how much time do you have?

Do you have a track on the helo?

Unclear what's the overall situation, but if you're worried of being detected by the sonobuoy and want to flee, the best thing to do is to go inside the layer (it's the most insulated place) and get away at creep or slower speed.
