Stuck Dipping Sonar

Post by MauriceB »

This save has a helicopter (Dipper #2) that just launched on an ASW Patrol. It is heading to a location where it will deploy it's dipping sonar. When it deploys the dipping sonar the 4 minute "dip timer" shows up on screen but never decreases. It stays like that for about an hour then RTBs due to bingo fuel.

The problem is related with the altitude.

If you manually decrease it to minimum it works, but The Seahawk is not doing it automatically.

So i have to micromanage an ASW patrol mission too? (Not sure, Is it a bug or mission parameter not set right?)

Altitudes are killing me, tried an air combat mission this morning also, and I had to constantly adjust altitudes (manually) for all my flights chasing ai units that kept changing altitude on me.

I feel like I'm fighting C:MO more than enemy units. When it comes to air missions, I honestly spend 2 hours fiddling with C:MO options for every 5 minutes of poorly executed attacks on the enemy, only to reload and try again to get all the mission, WRA, refueling options, etc., right.

2 months of this and I'm getting so tired.

Missions are essential to reduce micromanagement, so I suppose it is a bug.

I see this error or errors in the exception log, but only happened the first time when the dipping happened outside of the mission zone, that is moving?

In any ASW mission with dipping sonar, I always change the mission station altitude to less than 100 ft. It seems to work perfectly. In fact, I always pay close attention to mission altitudes in detail because of getting burned a few times. It automates it, but does require an extra step during planning.

If possible, please make one thread (with a suitable save) for each such issue. We need to be able to reproduce the issues in order to investigate and solve them.

Thanks for your understanding!
