[FIXED] Target detected due to omniscience not correctly inheriting its unit-side posture

Post by jujuterminator »

So maybe i'm stupid or russian systems are extremely bad but, i might have found a big issue with the S-300F on Slava class destroyer
The sytem seems to be unable to track any air target and just lock on the given coordinates without ever trying to fix its trajectory, i'm giving you the save file so you can test it.
I checked every ROE and if radars are enable, i set everything to TIGHT for engagement and the SA-N-6 is set to maximum range of engagement, with 2 missiles for each target.
Operating system windows 11
Hardware : 32 GB of RAM, CPU : I7 12700K, GPU : RTX 4060TI, drive : SSD 1TO samsung nVme
Game version : latest available on steam at this date : 13/10/2024 21:40

From discord:

I just checked the file you posted. There is something seriously wrong with your scenario. The ship sees the F-16 as hostile, yet trying to fire on it manually, let alone auto, it refuses to fire on a non-hostile aircraft due to ROE. Can I ask how you got side 1 to be able to see all details of side 2? I am going to rebuild the scenario from scratch and see if I can reproduce that. Otherwise, someone was trying something weird.

I built basically the same scenario from scratch and it works fine.

Noticed (on the OP save) that both sides are set to be omniscient (and hostile to each other). This may explain how they see every contact as hostile without going through the normal contact-handling pipeline.

As I suspected, the "omniscient" nature of the detection was preventing that target from being correctly handled as hostile.

Fixed for the next update, and modified the OP title to describe the true issue.

Cool. I initially suspected it was an autodetect issue. Completely forgot about the omni setting.
