TM1,

Based on the supply situation and how i have arranged my rail engineers no chance at Moscow in 1941....between terrain, soviet units, weather, and supply not much chance.....I might get alittle close that would be it.....I have other targets prior to end of year/blizzards that are attainable and will cost the Soviet economy/land army.

At this point i have already pushed him to the point that there isnt much of anything he can "give up" without a cost, in fact he cost is probably almost to high for 1941 already esp when you consider the 45NM of soviets for 1942.

Tactical actually held the Vladai hills in good strength, its taken alot of work with the Army I have in that sector to take what I have already taken----secondly supply, supply, supply is the issue as my supply line is abit back from the frontline there due to the main line going north to Leningrad eventually that will come south but its not there yet. Also as you will see the advance of AGC is starting to flank the Vladai hills anyway---every spare German new unit is going to the Vladia/AGC to make sure I can hold that in winter.

Unfortunately for the Soviet player against aggressive German play is seemingly no way to defend all the critical stuff successfully.....you can see this in most matches where the German player has any skill at the game. I cannot under emphasize how powerful the Rovno encirclement opening is in the south---as the 2nd turn then encircles/destroys most of the remaining soviet units in the south leaving almost nothing for the soviet player to defend the Kiev/Dnepr line....let alone Crimea/Leningrad/landbridge(major river line in center)......what little is left then has to be used to try and reinforce the northern and central sectors of the russian lines leaving the south basically free to be driven across by the Germans.

AGN: finished capturing Leningrad hexes and pushes were it can more East

AGC: Continues to smash close by soviet units where possible nothing big this turn.

AGS: Gets the panzer army in position to storm Voronezh

Not a very exciting turn but continued to take key terrain and inflict the key 100k+ losses on the soviets for yet another turn.

AGN: Continues a slow grind east supplies being the key issues with the lack of push on the hills----however I highly doubt he holds all or most of the hills by blizzard.

AGC: Key event was a quick drive to the north takes Torzak and some more grinding where I could get odds enough for a win.

AGS: Voronezh is stormed and many soviet units routed in the area. Nothing happening at Rostov other than grinding attacks against soviets that keeping the line close.

T15:
AGN- nothing much going on continue some push on the hills and random hexes to kill Soviets, you see the motorized divisions starting to reposition to the Vladai hills area of operations to grind them out more.

AGC- Nothing much at all really

AGS- Start to refuel the panzers to maybe take Tula and push where we can

Slow turn overall but I'm mainly beginning preparations for the upcoming winter turns.

T17:
Continuing to smash east of the hills

Soviets attempted a couple counterattacks at Tula- which failed and the result was Soviet army basically encircled---mud then hits and it takes several weeks due to heavy mud to wipe out the pocket but they are doomed.....

At this point continued assaults are conducted to the east of the Vladia hills area and attacks of opportunity but the German forces basically start to refit and dig in for Blizzard.

The game is actually at the first turn of Blizzard now so as his offensive kicks in will start posting updates as not much really happens until then.

1st Week of December 1941 Turn:

AGN: continued assaults to the east of Vladai hills area---I feel he is pretty weak and would like to secure all the nice terrain if I can and then dig in. This also allowed me to take Vishny Volochek as winter started which is a city to shelter units in as digging in around it proceeds.

AGC: All quiet continuing to try and get some locations to lvl 3 and get Tula to lvl 2/3 as soon as possible being the last area to be taken----Tula is about the only area the Soviets will launch counterattacks against for the winter really as i find out.

AGS---huge fortification belt is already built and well supplied....screening forces falling back to rest with their comrades and prepare for a Soviet assault that might hit in the winter months----spoiler not assault comes as it appears Tactical Halts soviet operations around Stalino....in retrospect to His armies now obvious weakness I should have prepared my defenses to just hold at Stalino, but i also didnt do the best possible rail repair the Germans can manage and actually screwed up my own supply a couple times over the summer so wasnt well prepared to extend my rail network that far really. So played it safe.

Stats for 1st Week of December 1941

I have been talking with Tactical via discord as we go and when i noticed he didnt do much over the winter gave him alot of suggestions on how to improve his management of the Soviet Army so think he is learning quite abit.

This is going to set him up for however for a rough 1942 I think.

1st Week of March 1942

German forces begin to take action against the Soviets to retake ground in preparation for the summer of 1942 offensive.

Alot of action most the line down South of Tula.....some limited attacks by both sides in the north.

All in all a bloody turn but most attrition for the axis as its been about 30k attrition alone per week for most of March.

The Winter offensive was overall pretty weak with the only real action being attacks that got close to Tula but were stopped and now being repulsed.

Key stats for both armies 1st week of MAR1942

Interesting note is only about 250k Axis casualties from 1st week of December 1941 to 1st week of March 1942.....mostly attrition based losses due to weather despite being mostly dug into good positions aside from the far south were several units were in lvl 1 forts but not anywhere near contact with Soviet forces.

Final week of March 1942

General German counteroffensive continues from OKA south with good results typically inflicting over 100k Soviet casualties per week and preparing the groundwork for the 1942 summer offensive.

Key numbers for end of March 1942

Attrition continues to be heavy for Axis forces but the losses inflicted on the Soviets should have greatly weakened any Soviet forces in the south prior to the Summer offensive.

Have you encountered a single guards division? The front line units show a distinct lack of them and I rather doubt he has a pile lurking off further east.

I dont think he has many if any guards....he only got in a couple successful attacks over the winter and I managed to counterattack many of those units.....so he may have the issue that even if he has units with enough wins they have to many losses.

I'll ask him.....we are almost to the End of April 1942 now and Mud has set in across everywhere but he rostov area....so German lines in the north didnt move much but got adjacent to Voronezh in the mid-south and have stormed past Rostov in the deep south aleady.....If light mud continued south of Rostov Soviet resistance appears light and i smashed basically every units he had screening an advance further south this last turn....so its looking like by May or so much of the south to the mountains will be in Axis hands.....now his lines from Leningrad to Voronezh are pretty strong- almost all 3 units stacks and getting dug in well during heavy mud so will be something to deal with come summer.

So as of April 1942 Tactical has 1 Guards division he just told me.....didnt figure he had many but he has some im sure that close as I do fail attacks once in awhile and he gets in some successful counterattacks.

By doing the big retreat to the DZ line in the south and having OKA north very strong I think it limited his ability to get many wins in the winter.

Key even for April 1942:

Rostov is taken and axis forces advance into the south toward Krasnodar.

Think the ability of Axis forces to assault and win in March 1942 caught the Soviets off guard who despite being fairly well entrenched in the Stalino area were still forced out with heavy losses resulting in not much being left to effectively defend Rostov when a German Panzer Corps suddenly showed up in April to force the issue.

We are now into May 1942 so the Summer is about to start rain just ended for the 2nd week of May 1942 but still alot of mud to slow Axis operations.

The other parts of the line for April stayed fairly static aside from a slow fall back between Rostov and Voronezh by Soviet forces due mostly I think to weakness of units as I was still able to attack a couple hexes a turn in heavy mud successfully.

will do a full update once we are more turns into May 1942. As this was the main even for April 1942.

3MAY1942 turn:

Rain blankets most of the frontline so the Axis forces only take what is given by soviet retreats and continue advances/assaults south of Rostov.
