Fate of Units

The manual has described the fate of German units in Finland once it is changed hand. What are the fate of ground/air/flak units located/assigned to the German region once it is changed to WA control?

I'm not sure, but I think the units become out of play (not sure if they are destroyed and counted as losses or simply removed). I recall someone posting that units on the map are actually frozen in place and still appear on the map in the newly out of play territory, but I'm not sure if I'm remembering that correctly.

Should the one who wrote the program knew what it did? His/Her response should be accurate.
