Honestly those pictures make me want to order one.

I've already been printing sections as needed from home into a binder but had I known the quality was that nice I would have ordered long ago!

In general, the Russian soldier looks very unrealistic! More like a Japanese! Plus, the Russians didn't have such big stars on their hats!

Understand what you mean. Then again, not everyone in the Red Army was Russian.

I know! But he looks like a moron with a huge star and a skewed hat. A living illustration of how the Eastern Untermensch defeated the highly civilized Aryans! :)

Looks like Leonid Brezhnev to me. If you actually wanted a serious answer.

By the way, Leonid Brezhnev is a war veteran! Participated in the battles in the amphibious assault in the Crimea! Was injured! Went through the entire war from beginning to end! He would be offended by such a photo! :) But I'm not offended! I just think this photo is unfortunate! And not only me!

I got my shipping notice Wednesday morning, and the tracking from DPD indicated it would be delivered to me in the US on Friday the 23rd. Today, however, I got a delivery notice from Fedex that shows a package delivery scheduled for this Tuesday. The shipper is listed as "Mark 3", which a quick google search indicated is a courier service that specializes in UK-US routes. Looks like I may be receiving my book three days early! [:)]

The body of the manual is a work of art but I have to agree that the Russian on the cover looks weird. They should have used the famous photo of the Russian officer raising his pistol in the air leading his men forward.

Worth noting that was based on a historical photograph from what I recall, so clearly some Soviet soldiers did look like this. It's possible the cover artist made the star a bit bigger to emphasize who is on what side, but the basic uniform and hat are as far as I know from the photograph. Based on my recollection, I think it was of an artillery officer?

There is no political statement in the cover art, please do not imagine what is not there.

I was kidding! Do not be offended! :) We just wanted to use this picture on our Russian forum, but after discussion we decided to use a German soldier! The German soldier looks prettier and is familiar to everyone. The Russian officer is indeed most likely an artilleryman, but here nobody liked him! :) It just looks somehow unnatural! Indeed, it was much more interesting to find a photo! Although I understand that there may be copyright issues.
