What a gem !

Post by 39battalion »

I was initially tentative about getting this game ( due to what I regard as unappealing 3D graphics). However I like playing with 2D NATO counters and when I saw the the 2D map screens were good I decided to give it a go.

After about 50 hours of play I am gobsmacked. This is a brilliant game.

Consider the following :

A huge range of scenarios
An incredible level of detail
Very immersive gameplay, historically accurate and with appropriate battle and movement sounds.
An excellent AI opponent
It is very customizable
There is night combat
It looks great in 2560X1440 resolution
Very supportive and active developers
And most of all it is fun to play

If you have any interest at all in the fractured history of modern Vietnam do yourself a favour and get this game.

To the developers : many thanks and congratulations on a fine product

Haven't been able to play a lot recently due to various commitments, but yes I agree entirely!

I've been playing the other, original CS games since they first came out and am amazed at the improvements made to such an old engine and how playing CSV really feels like French Indo-China/Vietnam.

10/10!

Thank you so much, 39battalion and TomWalton!

Your support and kind words are truly appreciated.

Do let me know how we can improve the game!

There are more games and DLC's coming. Just need more time in a day, or to win the lotto so I can do this full time. HA!

It makes me happy Campaign Series is in such a good place. Eastern Front was my introduction to wargaming proper and it is super nice to see the series not only still alive, but in good hands with a bright future.

I also appreciate the amount of time and attention that has gone into documenting the modding process too. It's obvious y'all care.

I totally agree with the above comments. It captures that Vietnam war feeling after reading some books about the conflict.
I just have trouble keeping track of all of the objectives while playing but I'm sure thats just me.

"We're jolly green giants walkin the earth, with guns"

It is a great game at that and as mentioned these guys do care

I also started with East Front and then West Front and then Rising Sun as my first intro into war gaming computer style and have always had a soft place for them. I'm looking so forward to the 1.30 ~
