Recent Previews of Distant Worlds 2
Hi everyone, I'd like to share some recent articles written about Distant Worlds 2 based on some preview sessions we've been having with various game journalists. Links below:

From Rock Paper Shotgun:

"I get a strong impression that Rutins (and co-designer and developer Elliot Gibbs, who wasn't present but their work certainly was) has attacked a great many of the little problems Distant Worlds had, and tied the solutions all together with the kind of thankless interface and data management structures that can dramatically multiply their effect. Of course, I can't tell for sure how successful they've been without playing, but when I compare how smooth it's looking with how clumsy and laborious an equivalent demo of the original would have been, I'm finding it hard to be cynical."

Full Preview: "We've now played Distant Worlds 2 and it's a light in an age of shadow ... If we're to imagine the worst case scenario, it'd be the full version making no changes at all, in which case it would get a hard time but still be a dramatic improvement on Distant Worlds Universe. Very little has been lost, little has fundamentally changed, but almost everything works better. That's a strong baseline, and I am frankly alarmed at the thought of how much of this year I'll likely spend playing Distant Worlds 2."

From multiplayer.it:

"This translates into a much wider range of possibilities than seen in any other title of the genre (at least at first glance, then we will be able to say again when we actually play it), with more articulated scientific trees and a system of relationships between the colonies much deeper, based on the exchange of raw materials, on general political and social conditions, on the presence of fleets and so on. Diplomacy with opposing factions also seems to offer many options, with the ability to forge alliances, declare war, intervene in other people's conflicts and so on."

From Aroged:

"In the presentation of about an hour, diplomacy was mainly discussed, an important aspect if you want to keep your stellar domain stable and safe."

From PCGamesN:

"Regardless of where the team has chosen to focus in terms of priorities, so far things seem to be shaping up nicely. This will definitely be one of those information-heavy strategy games, much like the older Paradox grand strategy games, but there’s already plenty here to look forward to."

From GameWatcher:

"This is exactly what fans of the first game appear to have been clamouring for. Fans loved how deep and absorbing the universe was, and may favour a shinier version that builds on the previous entries strength."
