What math am I missing?
Tooltips won't help either, they just add the info that these numbers are
per year.
On top should be the summary:
+1 - 2 =
-1 works out for me
-2.0 + 1.5 =
+1.0 not so much
I could add a whole bunch of speculations what may have gone wrong with these numbers but I'd expect some of you early beta testers may know the answer...
Left is the current value. Right is the current direction of the value.
"Apreciate your Unique Culture" is going down by 2 per year (towards 0)
"We are troubled by your strange alien ways" is improoving by +1.5 (unclear target.

Same independent, just 2 months later...
While left column could be based on applying different rounding rules, the right column is off the charts...
"Appreciate your Uniue culture" has decayed past the point where the rounding flips over to displaying 0. It is not actually 0 - yet. But it is 0.9 at best and still going down. In 4 months it should be gone.
"We are troubled by your strange alien ways" actually started worsening.
Likely something change the target from "better then -2", to "worse then -2".
Thanks for explaining me that left are the current values and on the right side are upcoming changes, I'd never have guessed that. Seriously, you're typing the text that is shown, and the numbers. But the numbers don't add up:
The overall tendency is +1.0/year and the values that add up are -2.0/year +1.5/year and there is no rounding that could make this equation work.
Left side is rounded to zero digits. In roughly two months this would have been 1 -2.0/12*2 = 0.67 or 1 -2.0/12*3 = 0.5 and that could have made a 1 to a 0, rounded. So that part works out, as said before.
But neither -2.0 +1.5 = +1.0 or -2.0 -1.1 = -5.0 makes sense. While you could argue that the first one just hit the
unclear target and thus it wouldn't be -2.0 in the first place, what argument could you offer to make any sense out of two values going down, combined -3.1, let's add a rounding error and make it -3.2 and -5.0? Even when you'd suggest that -5.0 is just a wrongful display of a rounded down -4.01 that doesn't make it -3.2. Ok, if you say -5.0 is in fact -4.01 you could argue that -2.0 is in fact -2.99 and -4.01 > -2.99 -1.1 = -4.09 would just be an awful display of rounded numbers.
Since you're arguing that the -2.0/year should be gone in 4 months, that -2.99 doesn't hold up either. And you're guess is correct, there is no clear target shown, the target is 0, as can be seen in the next image: once it hit 0 the line was gone and -2.0/year vanished. -1.1 was reduced to -0.7 until the target -3 was hit at which point it turned into 0 or no trend.
-5.0, the sum of all trends combined, got even worse until there was no trend at all.
So no, there is no way to make sense of the combined trend other than it's not the actual trend but a number combined of basic values that are not taking into account the actual values. In other words this number is absolute pointless, or bugged.
