BenPark found this site and posted it on some other message board - it is the most awesome thing... below is the coast line of Crete. You can zoom in, spin the view, and even angle the view. This is a huge benefit for future maps and scenarios...

Hey Dave, where's your pool? Or do you steal into your neighbor's pool when they are on vacation?

Isn't it awesome? Be sure to check the "keyhole BBS User" box at left-lots of crazy useless/useful info. I spent a few days watching Ken Burns documentary series "The West", and following the Donner Party route in 3d.

How do you think I could afford a pool? But don't worry Bil I'll dig a whole for you when you come over to visit. Though it's problematic as to whether we'll have the water to fill it given the current water restrictions. Make sure to bring your rubber duckey!

OMG! That means something completely different this side of the world

Can you believe we're soon to have water restrictions too; yes, in the UK

Hey CriticalMass, stop misquoting me. There was no comma after rubber. <G>

Are you serious about water restrictions in the UK? Where in particular?

Wow! Unbelievable. Thanks a lot for the site. I just spent about an hour looking at the Nepal-China border. Truly amazing.

Cheers

This is just the free version... but I'm so hooked I'm thinking about dropping $20 for higher res and some other features.

Arjuna - Never a doubt in the maps... just wasn't sure if there was a lot of erosion since 1941

Erosion - good one - filing this for away for the next time someone complains about map inaccuracies.

What are you using to project the maps onto the Google Earth images? I want to see if I can do it for HTTR as well just to get a clearer 3d image of terrain and see if it helps in planning etc.

You can add the graphics from within the application using the "Add" Menu and choosing "Image Overlay."

I'm trying to construct a COTA overview using the scenario preview published some time ago... for as much as I know about the Greek campaign, this is a very eductional experience for me.

Dave with your permission I'd like to include the scenario descriptions so that when you click on a battle icon, you get a feel for what happened and what the scenario will offer...

Just to answer your question above about UK, Yorkshire is often hit by water restrictions on drier years as most of the rain falls on Lancashire first as it comes in from the west. London is likely going to face water restrictions this year, although frankly if Thames Water could actually keep the water from pouring out of the pipes in leaks, the problem wouldn't be as serious. Spring was very dry this year, unfortunately.

Thanks Agema,

Yes it looks like "water" is going to be BIG news this century. I recall reading an article back in the late 70s talking about potential crisis in the 21st Century and higlighting water - access to it - as being a key issue. And that was in the days before global warming was an issue.
