Just started my PBEM game with 1.5 as the Japanese. With the non historical setting I do a couple more invasions and send additional support troops straight.

I seem to have trouble with some invasions in that the invasions fleets do not always move. Now the way I check this is to do my turn and then run the turn vs an imaginary opponent doing nothing. Really the idea is to ensure the task forces moves and hopefully toward where they suppose to go. I ran the turn twice doing this and noticed two different results for Pearl Harbour.

**An example of what I mean is after the second run of the turn I decided to add a brigade to the invasion of Legaspi. I did not run a test but just waited for the actual turn. Checking the turn the task force never moved. What I normally have to do is transfer all the ships into another task force with the same orders and for some reason it will move. No idea why this happens and only on the initial invasion.**

Anyway…

I changed the initial attack on PH to have more Kates attacking the port and more Vals attacking the airfield. On the first time I ran the turn I noticed my PH strike had a lot of the Kates attacking with bombs. Noticed it was a fairly mediocre attack.

When I ran the turn the second time I noticed a lot more level bombers carrying torpedoes and much more damaging attack, sunk 4 Battleships and damaged numerous ships.

When I actually sent the turn and received it back this is what happened, remember no changes were made between the second test and the actual turn other then sending another invasion force.

Here is my attack on PH
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x B-17E Fortress bombing at 15000 feet
6 x B-18A Bolo bombing at 15000 feet
3 x A-20B Boston bombing at 15000 feet
1 x SBD Dauntless bombing at 2000 feet
4 x SBD Dauntless bombing at 2000 feet
4 x SBD Dauntless bombing at 2000 feet
4 x SBD Dauntless bombing at 2000 feet

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only aircraft that flew where the CAP and the fighter sweep.

Has this happened to other people?

Any suggestions on what to do now? That harbour is full of ships with a lot of AA.

Is it worth hanging around and doing a raid on the harbour or the airfield? Should I just save my pilots and run?

Thanks

Yes, in my example it was the 35th (?) Brigade in Palau in a brand new task force with orders to go to Legaspi and it did not move. Happens a bit, especialy if you merge ships into the original task force, ie load up some more ships (for example include an engineer construction unit) usually into a second Task Force and then transfer the 2 or 3 ships into the original Task Force and then it will not move.

What I have to do is transfer all the ships into a third and new task Force with the same orders as the original task Force and away it goes.

when doing a turn #1 order, make sure you cancel the load command after giving it ... if not, the ships may still be there the following turn trying to finish loading.

Hi, Yes when you form TF on turn 1 make sure you tell them to stop loading troops once you have the entire unit loaded and also tell the TF to stop loading supplies.
