I went to run a test for new maps last night and no ships either side came up in Naval Action Screen. I have 5 installs of WITP over 2 two drives all differant Dir Names - tested all
from original install (pure vanilla 1.4) and all the test beds for other modes, non had ships coming up in Naval Action Screen but no problem with Air- Game not crashing just keeps rolling along just no ships - map icons working fine so this points to a central problem
will try and sus out this morning
If any one has a clue what might cause this give me a yell here

You sure the ships are actually gone as opposed to being a bad colour and being invisible?

I was thinking the same thing. When I messed with the icon bmp's to get the US and Japanese flags in, I had real trouble with keeping the color palette.

Yeah, it's now a whole production line, based upon the Shangri-La.

Since I have played an actual mission last week with no problem I have only been working on the maps in differant drive no changes made to other installs yet all installs no ships I could understand a color problem if what I was doing effectted a central file but was not it could be a case of windows being windows - will sus further this morning and poss do a restore back to last week and see what happens

I found out in testing War Plan Orange, if you are pointing to a bitmap that isn't there, if you click on the ship while in the map then it crashes the game, but if you point to a bitmap that isn't there on the transpose, during a surface action the ships will not appear. Sounds like you goofed up in the bitmaps or in the editor pointing to the bitmaps. Check and make sure you named them right, I made that mistake a couple of times.

We ran into this in Beta too ... but just to make it more fun, it seems like some video cards do not crash, they just display nothing. Others do an instant CTD.

I agree with what you are saying but would that effect a non modded 1.4 install thats never been touched or modded plus you might goof on couple of typos but not entire art package original not touched or modded

after testing every stage of the map builds with original ship transp. no joy
so I replaced Andrews map data file in case if got corrupted how I dont know and across
6 seperate installs only windows knows I got the original ships working then tried the 3D ships on Andrews original map and each stage to final product still no joy
being a computer tech this was not going to get the better of me so tried alot of other tests and until I deleted all ships out of allied and japanese transp dirs in all 6 installs
the re copied back again from a holding bay everything worked
tell me what happened because I still dont know cost a day but everything is back working
and I can now tear up the KISS map for Mr Frag ---- just a little bit --- Oh and dont cruise across the the rips in map they might fall through and dissapear again
I HATE WINDOWS
