If the Soviet Union surrenders, why do all uncontrolled hexes -- and edge of map resources hexes -- switch possession to the UK?

USSR surrenders... Which year is it? Are they missing some reserve infantry army?

I know this was mentioned in the past but I am not sure what ended up happening. With the next version will the USSR gain an additional Main Supply city in the east? In order to avoid the mass amount of troops that can be cut off from supply by a direct Japanese move to the north.

My question is "what is Russian Surrender" supposed to mean in terms of a reasonable historical context and the games environment. Obviously the USSR didn't surrender to Japan. But surrender presumably means something like a peace treaty with Japan following the capture of Omsk and some form of cease-fire line. So why would those big resource hexes on the western map edge switch to United Kingdom possession? And if surrender means a peace treaty of some sort, why should the Japanese be allowed to continue their advance west of Omsk -- i.e. keep moving the Japanese Army west after the Soviet surrender in order to capture these three big resource hexes?

I did actually do just that against the AI. While it took me upwards of about 7 or 8-months to get the trans-Siberian RR repaired all the way to west map edge, it is possible to get these resources/production pts incorporated into the Japanese production cycle (albeit they are hit with the 1/3 rule multiplied by the Japanese production factor). But it begs the question -- at least in my mind -- do these resources/production pts get incorporated in the United Kingdoms production cycle when these hexes switch from Soviet to UK possession? If so why? The material and resources these three hexes represents would presumably be utilized by Soviets in their war against Germany rather than become a form of donation to the United Kingdom.

That is an issue -- at least in AI play. Surround Vladivostok and cut the RR between it and Borsya and you effectively isolate 80% of the Russian's Siberian/Manchurian Army. Than its just a matter of waiting a few turns for the bigger Soviet units become manageable and "eliminatable". For me this is the defacto strategy for Japan. Quickly remove the Soviets from the Equation. I have found it is easily achieved by early summer of 1943. Otherwise the Soviets become a large magnet of army and air resources once they finally enter the game in 1945.

Capture of the west map edge resources -- while a nice chunk of change -- becomes somewhat irrelevant to the Japanese production effort due to the length of time required to get the trans-Siberian RR into working order. And there is a significant investment in ground units needed to garrison the length of the Trans-Siberian RR. I typically find the Japanese logistics pool gets drained to a point that by the time the Siberian resources get injected into Japanese industry, production of large ticket items is no longer an option.

It's fixed. I added a ton of supply sources for the Russians in Siberia. Basically consider them supply stockpiles up to your ears so this won't happen. In World in Flames each city is a supply source if I remember.
