Hello Folk's, today me and my friend decided to start a new game of Scenario 2 with Andy Macs Variants and Options. ( Found here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4906600)

Me and my friend talked and decided to add a few more on top of what Andy has already created

Since were already playing scenario 2 we've decided to go for 175 Me/200 opponent point's
Extra Options agreed on with opponent;
Add 500k Supply,Fuel,Resource,Oil - 5 points
Adding land device upgrade to another device for 3 points
Change a ships location to a friendly port for 1 points
Change a task force location to a friendly port for 5 points
Change an unrestricted lcu location to a friendly base for;
Regiment,AA,Artillery,Engineer - 1 point ,
Division - 3 points

here's the Realism Options:

Then house rule's;
House Rules;
1)Japan gets 1 full surprise attack , if Japan elects to attack Pearl harbor , no attacks on Manila on turn 1. Allied player cant create new task forces at Pearl and Manila , no orders to planes at Pearl turn 1
2)No super deep invasions turn 1
3)All missions altitude limit 20k untill 6/42 , 25k between 6/42 and 1/43 , 30k between 1/43-1/44 , no limit after 1944
4)Paratroopers; Free to use fragments to capture small island bases but have to bring the whole unit if you are using it elsewhere , either in 1 turn or in the following turns.
5)4 Ships task forces minimum if you have multiple task forces in a hex
6)No 4E planes below 10k feet on naval strike
7)No Carrier hunting turn 1

if anyone has suggestion's on what to spend point's on looking for any help or even more option's that we can add.

I would think that you guys would want to play with No unit Withdrawals OFF, not ON and Realistic R&D set to ON.

Yep, that's me just give me 5 more year's when I'm out of college and see if I approved or not. Also, if you don't like how I write Evoken is writing his own AAR so you can keep up to date there

What have you decided to spend your 150 points on ?

Given you can accelerate ships via naval production system is the best option to add more carriers in 44 - and then hopefully you get lucky on rolls and can accelerate them carriers in 44 are quite cheap ie N3 ok its random which month they arrive in but by acceleration you can amass a nasty carrier force in 43

I like to read both sides and if I do so, I will comment on what has happened but nothing from the other side. If I do not read the other side, then I may make operational suggestions. I will offer "technical" help in suggesting how to do certain things to either side.

To start off with yes, I'm going to be posting what I spent my point's on very soon. my opponent and I did agree to give me an Inf upgrade which in turn gave him 25 extra points then for the hell of it he was saying dam 25 more points would be nice and I pretty much was the same way so we agreed on another 25 points.
So it's a 175/200 split Now I know we went a bit off from what you originally had built but we thought about adding our own twist on it and I hope it makes the game fun for the both of us and the reader's

The temptation is to take lots of Akagis because they have 81 capacity

But I think more cost effective is to take CVL's Ryujos 48 capacity and CVL's so cheaper and a lot cheaper to accelerate in industry

Why take more Akagis for the same cost you can take 2 Ryujos so 96 cvapacity v 81 on the Akagi and a lot cheaper to accelerate.....

Hmm honestly after posted I was thinking that dam ryjuo would give me more Capcity over all put I still feel some main line CV's are neccasary since they have better armor and AA but I might slightly go down by a few a give myself more Rujuo's

Ports are also a huge constraint on re arming you need lvl 6 I think to rearm BB's may be worth thinking about

Also last point converting the Chitose's early to CVL's increases punch at start cheaply...

its just the balance on the fact that you need to build these ships and the difference between building 2 10k tonne CVL's and 1 35k Carrier is significant

Also CVL's are more expendable on raids.....

Also by 44 most of the time you will be close to Japan so I think rearming BB's won't be a problem

I think that instead of adding supplies to the Home Islands, other than Hokkaido, spread it around especially if any industry is expanding/converting in Korea or Manchukuo. The later carriers may be better off being multiple CVLs since they may be one shot deals anyway but they can also be in more places causing trouble.

The Kaga would more realistically be an Akagi class as one was being converted until it was damaged in a earthquake. The others would be more realistically be the Shokaku class.

What does the CVB Shinano have? Is it the anemic air group or the one that is much larger as was planned?

Is there a possibility of giving the I infantry squads a higher Hard Attack value as if they had Panzerfausts or something similar?

So most of the supply I added into the home island's is for the base's that start off with low supply I plan on doing most of the industry on turn one.

Here's the picture's of the CVB and what my 43 inf will look like now

Or if you cant read the picture 30 A/Arm 27 A/Soft

So in 43 if I have around 30k AV it will now be more like 39k AV from what my opponent calculated

Plus my 5 new div's I might be around 42-43k AV

Yes, but I have revised my naval ship yard's for 44 by taking away the Yamato and some other CV's and adding in the Medium tank accelerating so I hope by 44 I've expanded my naval ship yard by a lot and is able to afford it

Biggest drawback I see in getting the CVL's vs CV's would be in sorties only having 141 to 675 would make a huge difference in my play style that a spit ball can sink a Ryujo. Sucks you can't accelerate a night fighter radar to be of use as I think only 3 months wont make any difference unless you can do it multiple times

YA sortie's will be a problem, but using the CVl's just as fighter base's might be better keep a few with torpedo bomber's on them, but mainly use them to protect the main CV's will be my best bet since they have as high of a chance of being targeted as the next CV

Add the recon types to the CVLs.

The supplies will move from Tokyo and other bases to where they are needed, just set the supply demand to 4k+ since the computer will try to send 3X the supply demand.

Build up the Fusan LI to increase the Resource draw there. Dump a small tanker load of oil there and then have two small tankers set up in separate CS convoys to haul oil to the Home Islands two hexes away. That should get more resources to flow there as well as some oil.

Haul supplies and units to Hankow, plus bring in some small tankers to haul oil to Shanghai which is stockpiling oil so so it can be shipped to the Home Islands. This might get the oil flowing from deep in China when you capture those bases which you should start moving two armoured units right away to do that, one can be the really small armoured regiment which is not much larger than a tank company.

You might want to increase/add factories to Manchukuo since they should be relatively safe from strategic bombing until the Soviet Union is active in the war.

Every base that has factories and resources in the Home Islands needs to build forts immediately so that you do not forget to do so and those will provide balloon protection against low flying aircraft.

Thx's for the advice I did the supplies in mainland Japan because I like to do my industry on the first turn to get the most value out of how many turns's there are in the game I'm just that type of person :)

Also, I've been going to update the list of the point's I've spent but here's what I'm changing for people who don't want to look at the list Again

Land device upgrade 6 points;

745 to 759
755 to 759

Then I will take away
Yubari to Agano Class -1
Spawn Ryjuo 4/43 -2
Spawn Akitsuki 1/43,6/43,9/43 -3

So the idea behind this is for some of my Medium ART units and most of my infantry div's that have this artillery piece to have Art that will be somewhat on par with allied art pieces. Also Ike the cost on my armament's I planned on expanding a tad bit for my squad's anyway's so I'll just expand a bit more than I expected

Now that the points are underway and getting worked on time to think of a strategy and theorize what my opponent spent his point's on. To begin with let's start with my opponent's point.
Now I can expect at least a couple of divs coming in between the date's suggested at least some American tank divs and possibly marine div's? I'm not too sure, but I expect at a bare minimum of at least 3-5 new div's spawning in. I can also say that some of his British CV's were most likely upgraded as well too Implacable's as well, which will be a big hurt early on but if he has done this British sea Aviation planes will be scare and have to be husbanded so hammering as much of them as possible will be the main goal earlier on also sinking the carriers will be a plus but that might be out of the ballpark for a while.

I can also see some early USA BB's being converted to Iowa's and then being moved so let's give an estimate of around 2-4 BB's becoming Iowa's and being moved out of Pearl. On the note of moving, I guess that my opponent is gathering all of his carrier's plus some of his new Iowa's (if he did them) to one spot now where will I feel there's two option's India or Australia. So I'll tread carefully anywhere in the DEI and Pacific until Ik where his carriers might be and his intentions are shown.

He probably accelerated some plane's as well now I can't tell you what planes might have been moved, but if I had to guess possibly carrier plane's like the hellcat and the corsair to earlier dates.
With Carrier's on the mind lets go to added ship production I can see a good 5-15 new American CVB's coming in any time now a funny meme would be to spend like 32 point's and add like 4 CVB's in Dec to June 42 and completely crush me early on but knowing my opponent he added them in 43/44.
I guess on a final note for allied points would be probably abusing N8 and maxing that out giving him 100 PP per turn which will be devastating for me, but hey, he had 25 extra point's to spend with me only making 85 but I won't need as much PP to move unit's around with what rule's we have set in place.

Strategy time:
KB now I have several options where to go with this one. First off I can attack Either Pearl or Minilla without a task force being created with that in mind, I might have an idea of what I want to do. So I can Attack Minilla with LBA while attacking somewhere else Let's say Singapore we could have the chance of catching Force Z in Singapore port while catching some other combat ship's that start in the area. Or I could do a west coast strike now the benefits of this would be well, delaying the transportation of American troops to the Pacific island's but I don't see much benefit in this since I have no idea where his carriers might be and the USA is well protected at the start with fighters. I think Singapore and Minilla will be the chance to sink the American sub fleet early on with Force Z is way too tempting since it will put a damper on any plan's my opponent might have had for the DEI.

After some consideration depending on how to test goes and seeing if force Z has moved might change some plane's but I still feel Singapore is a strong alternative to possibly an empty Pearl Harbour or even possibly an Empty Manilla if my opponent went crazy.
