Could we get a better display for national morale?

Right now we get a cryptic number that doesn't say much.

A player needs to know how long / how many more cities until surrender.

I thought the number was a representation of how many "points" you need to take from that country for them to surrender.

Basically any city with a number in it counts, manpower or PP...

Never seen oil matter or non-city producing hexes...but maybe in the Pacific.

Hi Sveint,

To be fair I do not find the number cryptic but pretty straightforward. It is simply the sum of how many Morale points a country has left on map (so this way you do not have to count them yourself). So far, I have not found any mistake, but maybe there is one somewhere of course (but see bellow for a possible source of misunderstanding and confusion).

The threshold for conquest is also always the same: zero. Until it reaches 0, a country still fights There are only three excerptions (two with different thresholds for optional early surrenders and one that never surrenders) all mentioned in the scenario notes (Italy, France and UK).

Possible source of confusion: The Morale points are the green ones (morale only) and the brown ones (which are also ressources points). However, brown circled points outside of cities are not morale points. I believe this information is based in a single word of a single sentence easy to overlook in the manual (and not in scenario notes). One could for example not take Barcelona and go for the 5 point mine instead (I have seen it). But it will not work since mines are only ressources.

Maybe a simple fix could be to have a different color for ressources that are only that compared to ressources in cities that are also morale? It would be much more immediately obvious to the eye.

Any hex that gives manpower also gives morale.

Brown circle urban
green circle urban.

It's pretty simple. Don't let your morale fall to zero. For Italy it means you need to garrison urban areas and watch those #s

They surrender at 1 IIRC (instead of the normal 0). So 4 exceptions instead of 3 (my bad).
