Every now and then when I fly some interdiction or ground attack you suddenly see all the infantry units showing up as AA, like every grunt is letting rip with their MP40 into the sky. And flak losses for the attacking aircraft is high.

Is this WAD - usually I just see the dedicated flak weapons showing up in the Anti-Aircraft defence list?

I'd say WAD, in part all AA associated with the route to/from target gets shown as happening in the target hex.

The list is a bit misleading, my guess is say those motorized rifle squads have a single weapon that hit the potential targets.

Other bit, tac and fighter bombers actually execute their attack at 1,000' regardless of the mission altitude (that sets how they get there and back), so that could trigger quite a few weapon systems.

One way to see this is to expand the ground combat display - it will then show how the different weapons in a given element actually performed.

Yes, I'd say it's most if not all WAD, although we do have an item on the list to look at on a somewhat related matter. I don't expect all those units in the list are actually firing and/or hitting anything.

Thanks guys - yes, I didn't clock that this interdiction was fighter bombers/tac bombers, whereas all the other interdiction I'm comparing it to (in which the grunts don't fire their rifles) is level bombers.

So the altitude is the difference. Makes sense.
