My first beta in a while. The player gets to control an EU task force trying to destroy rebel positions in Algeria and trying to keep them from killing civilians.

As always, please let me know what you think. Are there are errors that need to be fixed? Is there anything I can add or change to make this a better, more challenging, more enjoyable scenario?

Thanks!

Hi Mark

Good one so far. I'm sending one via PM as don't want to ruin it for other people.

So far I'm winning. F-4C probably the hero of the day due to the IR capable sensor finding units early. Got nailed by a SA-7 with very light damage (No rtb!) but got greedy guiding a second strike in and it went down to AAA. Only one other issue in that a Hornet got damaged. Very fun scenario.

I did find one issue which isn't you. I noticed that some french cargo is recorded as a loss in the AAR. Do you delete with cargo on board per chance?

Ok didn't seem to happen with deleting the host unit so bit of a mystery. You can reset it in the editor by going to the scoring and window and resetting everything with the selections at the top.

Running this scenario now. Many thanks and great timing Mark. Trying to deal with some IRL issues so this scenario is offering me a nice and comfortable break.

Will report back when completed

Ok completed with a major victory. Although the missile boat got within range of Lady J so I fired on them. Bad call but Palmaria artillery is Libyan, Nigerian or Italian, so maybe not unjustified. Anyways, this is 1999 so hired the law offices of Shapiro, Dershowitz, Bailey and Cochrane. They got OJ off, so I'm sure I'm good.

Took some AAA hits on a frigate. Got greedy. A ship's is a fool to fight anything with an autocannon!

I've not completed this scenario yet, but I do have one comment. Perhaps the civilian structures (Mosque, Hospitals etc.), especially the more separate ones, should be un-grouped, so that they are easily visible regardless if the player is in Unit or Group View.

I didn't know about the hospital close to the rebel Artillery until I accidentally switched to Unit view.

UPDATE:

I've now completed the scenario. I was able to wipe out all rebel units, using a combination of airstrikes, Paratroopers, heliborne Infantry, and naval gunfire.

I did come under SAM fire at a few points, but all aircraft were unscathed. Can't say the same for ground forces. The Heliborne troops took somewhat light casualties in ground combat, but all the paratroops were killed, mainly from two surviving rebel Howitzers that the initial airstrikes were unable to knock out.

I was able to bring back all surviving troops to the Jeanne d' Arc by Helicopter. My score at this point was 160 (Major Victory).

In an effort to see if I could get a higher score, I sank both Libyan ships, and was pleasantly surprised to see that disobeying my orders actually penalized my score.

My losses and expenditures are below.

Overall, I enjoyed this scenario. Alongside my above comment about civilian structures, and BDukes' comment about the losses and expenditures (I admit that it would have been nice to have some amphibious heavy equipment to use alongside light infantry).

I will say that there isn't much chance of saving all the civilians, due to the necessary time to prepare landing troops and re-arming the F-18s and Mirages that are not already armed with strike ordinance.

Perhaps the F-18s armed with A2A loadouts could be set to be readying with LGB loadouts with 2-3 hours needed before launch? The single thing that hurt me most were those two howitzers that I didn't destroy in the first airstrikes.

Any other suggestions for this one? Or is it ready for the Community Scenario Pack? Thanks.
