So in the image below you can see me trying to send some bombers to attack an enemy unit.

You can see I have designated escorts not necessary.

You can also see the 76 SAD assigned to bomb are well in range.

You can also see 1 AOG listed as assigned to the directive.

You can also see no red alert no fly text below 76 SAD.

Yet the banner of the directive is brown for 'no fly'.

Any ideas?

Set Req AC to zero. Does it still say Assigned 1 AOG mission 0?

Is it because all the bombers are already assigned to ground support by the AI?

In other news, why has the AI decided to reassign this AOG just outside of Leningrad to the Black Sea air command just outside of Sevastopol.

I'm sorry, the air war system in this game is just a car crash. I don't mean to be rude because I know a lot of people have put a lot of time into this. But to this player it feels like a poorly conceived, buggy prototype.

I will persist because the simulation lurking beneath the GUI of this game is so superlative.

In more other news, how can to GND support AD label for the Orel Air Command show many more aircraft assigned than the Orel Air Command possesses?

You sure that isn't Baltic Fleet AC? The colors are similar.

I have also noticed that even high prio missions with Req escorts and planes might not fly. Even when escort is well below possible escort to call for.

But I have to do specific tests to be sure I have not butter fingered when setting up the AD.

One of the airbase used by 76SAD, the Kolosovka, is lack of ammunition.
Suggest to check directly details of the 2 airgroups of 76SAD. There maybe other causes, such as just transferred from National Reserve?

...

because the GS number is active + damaged, the number on the AOG lable is active/ready (ie excl damaged or set to reserve)

Yes, trust me. When the dotted blue rectangular box stretches from Sevastopol to Leningrad, you know something is amiss.

I would recommend you check "show air groups" "hide AOG" and "no fly info" boxes. You should then see exactly why units won't fly. If you know what your plane types are and what they do, this is also a much easier way to manage air planning in my view. The final numerical column shows range to staging base, which is useful, though at the moment you can't sort your assets by this parameter.

Tried to replicate but no luck. Maybe switch the AI off and see if problem persists.

You need to set the MIN AC numbers

Please expand? 0 MIN AC numbers should mean any number of available aircraft is enough to fly a mission?

Hi squatter,

Looking at your initial screenshot I can see that you've got the air groups displayed but the directive is showing as having an AOG assigned to it. I've seen some wonky behaviour in similar circumstances - the way I set things up is to either have the 'show air groups' box unticked and assign AOGs or if I have the box ticked only assign individual air groups one by one.

If you still have the save available and want to send it over for me to have a bit of a fiddle with to see if I can make it work just send me a PM.

Thank you for the suggestion and offer Sammy.

Unfortunately the game is server so I don't have saves I can send you. Appreciate the thought though, thanks.
