Is there a way to change the save game folder? Could change it into a cloud-folder. It'd be a nice way to play the game on two computers. Probably could do this via Steam but I like to avoid it whenever possible since it always means an extra program on and internet etc.

Your question spurred this experiment which worked perfectly:

(1) I created a randomly named folder on a USB drive (I don't have a cloud drive available to try)
(2) I removed C:\Matrix Games\Shadow Empire\savedgames
(3) I created a 'shortcut' to the USB drive folder named C:\Matrix Games\Shadow Empire\savedgames*

Once done, SE used the shortcut (which really was the remote USB folder) as if it were it's regular savedgames folder.

*One way to create the 'shortcut' is to simply
(1) right-click on the remote folder,
(2) drag-n-drop to C:\Matrix Games\Shadow Empire
(3) rename to savedgames

Since when is that possible/under what conditions?
I have known about Symbolic Link support in Windows for a while, but never managed to find such a easy way to set one up.
Is that a Windows/.NET Update, something unique to Vic's code or was that always an option?

Symbolic linking has been in Windows for quite a while - at least a couple decades, I'd say. I can't remember when it was first introduced or how it has evolved since, as I don't use it that often. But in cases like Sieppo's, it can be useful.

It has nothing to do with Vic's software, and I don't believe it's related to .NET. I think it is purely an Windows OS feature.
