Nope. I am more than willing to take new pictures of my feet for him to view but he is not around.

Steve took over Matrix World in Flames development in (I think) 2003. Given that many wargamers are in at least late middle age, there must be many of the early posters to that forum who are no longer with us.

Also, given that COVID-19 comes on quickly, and that the U.S., which has a very large number of wargamers has been the worst affected country, imagine how many forum members have succumbed to it? Their accounts would simply go silent and no-one would know what happened.

You know, I think many of us who have been on the internet since the beginning have just had accounts go slient, friends disappear...

I think this is the saddest part of being part of the internet generation. Things can just suddenly happen to people and you never find out about it, they just disappear and your left to wonder what happened to someone you used to spend so much time talking to...

It's been really especially true of forums for me. One day someone just decides not to go to a forum anymore, or moves on to a new community, there are lots of reasons why it happens.

That's why I try to meet people IRL as much as possible, or at least I did. Obviously can't travel anymore! :D

I had a really good friend who lived in the apartment two doors down. He had a bit of a troubled past but was a tech genius who helped me choose components and built my PC for me. One day he told me he was moving to Melbourne and that he was only going to take two suitcases, rather than do a removal, so he started selling his stuff. I bought some really good speakers and an amp from him for a song. In the end there was almost nothing left in his apartment.

Then late one night, he knocked on my door and gave me a box of stuff. Mostly it was tools and useful electronic gear but also a coin collection and personal things, including a really nice watch. "Are you sure man?", I said to him. "Why don't you take this with you?", but he said he didn't want them anymore and that he didn't wear the watch etc.

I should have realised. It was a good cover story. He just disappeared and all of my attempts to contact him failed. No response to emails and eventually his mobile phone number was reassigned. I think he suicided, which is a dreadful pity.

That was Zakblood who posted not Zorch, unless they are the same person.

Not the same person. I hope Zorch is okay... you never know nowadays - especially with the average age of us old farts and a certain virus that's been doing the rounds

Interestingly enough, I just realised that it was Zorch who opened the "The Mystery of Dyatlov Pass" thread...

Yes I did. I read that article that RJ posted about it. Interesting
I've been taking a break from online activities. Too toxic...

Glad you're okay.

Online toxicity has definitely become a serious problem.

Good timing. You actually just avoided a toxic storm that rose up from nowhere. Maybe our nerves start to be a bit frayed given the situation out there.

That's good news, because you could have easily been abducted by aliens for probing. Who knows then if you ever be heard from agan.
