In the manual on page 52 it indicates that oil dependent units use 20% more oil stockpile. It then uses the example of a German mechanized with a strength of 20 costing 28 stockpile. What am I missing here as 20% of 20 is 4.

On the same page it also says that ports provide 20 times their port size in supply stockpiles. As Malta is a size 5 port that would mean 100 supply stockpile. We just started a new PBEM game and looking at Malta I see the following numbers. Port supply 96 out 100 which I understand as it is a size 5 port so it is not quite stockpiled to it's max of 100. At the bottom beside the supply icon is the number 9. Is this the amount of supply it is providing to units this turn?

In my first PBEM that we just finished, Malta was continuously losing supply stockpile from Axis air units based in Sicily. I based an interceptor in Malta but it didn't seem to make much difference. I assume that supply convoys cannot be manually set up like trades, is that correct?

This is the second PBEM for my friend and I and we are finding it difficult to understand what some numbers mean as there is no display when hovering the cursor over it and also how things works since there are so many elements of the game "under the hood". The manual is not that detailed.

For Malta, I assume the unit inside consumes 4 supplies, hence the 96 left out of 100. The 9 you mentioned is, I believe, the supply level of the hex. Supply sources, ports with supply stockpiles and hexes connected by rail to one of those are always the highest supply level (9) therefore allow for max recovery to units there. A unit in supply level 6 hex, for example, would get about 2/3 of the recovery of the same unit in a supply level 9 hex. And yes, supply convoy are automatic.

Hope it helps (at least for Malta).

+1 Nirosi

Oil dependent units cost 20% more supply stockpile for every oil they use

p.54: Supply Convoy Interdiction
Friendly air and naval forces automatically escort within the same ranges.
(It should have some difference)

Thanks guys. I figured out the 9 after posting so a little too quick posting. Having played the SC series a long time where pretty well everything is done manually and you can see the results it is going to take some time to become familiar with this game. Took us awhile to figure out advancements which aren't as automatic as we thought. I really like the limited stacking and naval operations which I think are more realistic than SC where it is basically an extension of the land. However I would still prefer more FOW for naval operations and will be very interested in how this is handled in WP Pacific.
