I got some undesired behavior from my air intercept mission. I set it up to be triggered by a contact 100nm away. ENLIT picked up a very rough estimation of a helicopter, with possibility to be within 50nm. Pretty soon the contact was determined to be about 160nm away and no immediate threat but the mission was already triggered.
1.Should the Intercept mission be triggered that easy? It makes them difficult to use effectively.
2. The Harriers that were launched, starts heading towards every air contact on the map, some over 400nm away. Does not seem right to me

"- Lt. Swant, reviewing the records of yesterday's tragedy we notice that your alert flight delayed getting in the air once the hostile contact was detected. Why did you not react faster?"

"- Well sir, we had a lot of false alarms recently with contacts suddenly appearing to be within interception range and, once we launched, turning out to be much further out than we thought. So I thought about giving this a bit of extra time to firm up before going through the whole launch, get out there, get back up cycle. It's hard on men and machines as you know."

"- Well leftenant, this time the threat was real, and your hesitation to react meant that you failed to catch that helo before it launched the two Exocets that crippled our carrier. Because of this disaster, our operational plans in the theater have been scrubbed and the task force is returning to friendly ports for repairs. And I have a lot of letters to write. You'll have ample time to consider the meaning of 'hot pad alert means take off RIGHT NOW' while pondering the consequences of your hesitation in the brig. Dismissed."

LOL, by the way it's lieutenant (pronounced 'left tenant' in British and Australian forces) and as usual, first to get the taste of steel, hence on the left...

Ok so no problem with a surface group blowing of all its load against a single helicopter with no possible mothership detected over 200nm away?
Don't think I will be using air intercept mission that much in the future :) Just hope I don't run in to any more potent threats later in the mission

Also what about point nr 2?

(wrong in reply to obviously)

You can use multiple interception zones to prevent this. Start with a little, grow with a lot.

Your future MP opponents thank you for letting them know in advance that they can prod your screens with impunity

That is a confirmed issue, we are currently testing a fix.

Just wanted to note that you had "no preference" for your maximum number of flights allowed for an intercept so wouldn't that mean that all of your available aircraft assigned to that particular intercept mission would take off?

You also have "Mission triggers when contact is minimum" set to unknown. Theoretically, you could have 12 Harriers launching to intercept a flock of birds or even some guy floating through the air in a lawn chair carried by helium balloons (which would be hilarious to me).
