Well, Sears hasn't published their big-book catalogs in many years. But yesterday I received the holiday sales flyer from Compass Games. Huge two-sided foldout brochure with tons of wargames and color pictures of box art and all that. It may not be the same as the old Wish Book, but it sure releases the wargamer endorphins to activate positive emotions. It's something to be happy about!

I remember them, and it's sad they are missing from life eh.

Well, how shall I put it. Most people no longer use outhouses so there is less demand for those large catalogues.

Yeah when I was a kid we always liked getting the Christmas catalogs. The internet killed all that.

Getting Christmas catalogues was good and bad. It was fun looking at all the things we'd wish Mum and Dad could get us (loved looking at the Hornby railway and Scalextric stuff the most - but also Subbuteo, board games, action man - come to think of it, it was most stuff actually )..... sadly Christmas Day always struggled to live up to the wish list Mum and Dad said it was lack of money, but maybe I was just permanently on Santa's naughty list

Santa's naughty list? When I was three years old my best friend got a lump of coal in his stocking and that was it. He was not into rock collecting either. His parents did not even have to buy it, they just had to walk down to the railroad tracks in town and pick it up off the ground.

BTW, do you know why Santa is so jolly? He knows where all the naughty girls live and what they do. Where do you think he goes on December 26th?

Been way too many years to even decide when it was. Maybe the last time was in 8th grade somewhere in the mid to late 60 's?? I also remember waiting for the season opening TV guide to find out about all the new seasons TV shows.
