Westerley Wind, Fine NJP72 (J) vs Lowpe (A) DBB Sce 30

Post by njp72 »

Hi all,

Great game lined up here against the legendary Lowpe. Great guy who really knows his stuff.

Quietly excited about this one- should be a cracker.

Sce 30 DBB with minimum HRs, PDU-Off (really enjoy my Zeros and Oscars)

Just waiting on the return of the first turn and then we can get into the nitty and gritty.

Thanks Mike, [:)]

Yes he (Lowpe) is a gun player these days. Once he gets set/ comfortable he can really bring the pain.

Will have to work out a way to keep him off balanced!

87,169 but don’t hold that against me!

You definitely need to bomb something with it sometime. With Ride of the Valkyries in the background. For the heck of it

Best wishes in your new game vs Lowpe. I think it might be more challenging than our game was.

May it last longer than the last one. [:D]

Okay first turn is done and dusted and amended the title of the AAR.

The old controversial wind code indicating which direction the Empire's first pre-preemptive strike was aimed at.

In this alternative history, Shigeyoshi Inoue has a very unlikely win and convinces everyone to largely ignore the US on the first strikes including old Yama.

Target- Singapore.

Some of the initial combat results

The RN (Royal Navy) should be largely out of the game after Day 1 [:)]

Didn't have it completely our own way.

Vals decided to go after PoW and Repulse while Kates went after some damaged CLs. Grrrrr

Also Hiryu had a nasty scare- even with a layered CAP those plucky Brits got through and planted a couple of minor bomb hits for pretty much zero damage. Its been a while since I have had a CV hit on Day 1- probably around Pearl by Wargmr [:)] .

Never fun or good for the blood pressure.

Now with the RAN out of the way where to next????[;)]

Circled is basically the main strength of the IJN plus a host of transports.

Didn't hit the beaches on turn 1 because I knew Lowpe would be waiting.

The question is; does he come after me or back off. Not much left of the RN but the Dutch haven't been touched yet.

Thanks all for the well wishes [:)]

Day 2 and the fleet continues to move towards its objectives. No major surface encounters this turn. The RN is largely shattered and the USN and Dutch are biding their time to strike at the amphib fleets. They are out there, somewhere [X(]

Lowpe has already made a number of very nice moves- he is good if not better than I suspected, certainly at this stage of the game.

Regardless, concentration of force is my friend and there is nothing he can do about that, no matter how good he is. He will get some licks in but I intend to smash straight through the Allies over the next 2 months.

Well I would be lying if I didn't enjoy that turn [:)]

Probably one of the few times in this entire game where his AAR title may be somewhat appropriate.

KB caught the tardy Dutch exiting Surabaya Harbour and massacred them. 50+ ships gurgling down and creating an ecological disaster for generations to come. Most of it was trash but still quite satisfying.

Just two of the many sorties below.

Of course it could all be a synch bug

It was a bit risky and partially calculated to have KB leave the main landings on Java and chase down the Dutch but I am very keen to keep Lowpe off balance and hesitant about my true intentions. With the RN neutralised from the first days strikes I thought it worth the gamble.

I'm pretty sure he thought I was headed to secure the oil at Palembang and didn't expect the move on Java. I have a number of amphib taskforces feinting moves to key objectives and then veering off at the final moment to keep him guessing.
