Goslar Map is required.

Mission: The 63rd Guards Tank Regiment of the 10th Guards Tank Division has been ordered to clear the Innerste valley in preperation of the division's continued attack through Holle towards the Hildesheim area.

Scenario Description: August 1989 - Brits Def vs Soviet Attack
Playable as both sides. The defending Brits formations are locked, so if you play as Soviet you are attacking against a human placed enemy, with maybe one or two surprise non-locked units to throw in a variable. Soviet player controls the better part of a Soviet tank regiment, with on map 2S1 and off map artillery as well. Designed for those who love larger scale battles, and to show off how bigger truly is better in terms of playing Armored Brigade.

Below is a screenshot from a play testing which also captures my new, favorite view when playing AB.

Looking from southern edge of the valley over the ground depicted in the scenario.

In my first play test, this area where the shot originates from was very exposed. People often sight the line of sight averages of terrain in Germany being around 1,000 meters, well here in the British sector it's a lot longer than that. The long sight lines don't bode well when facing an enemy equipped with Challenger tanks....

Real maps, that was for me, when AB became a passion. Fighting on real terrain, with the challenges it presents, too often not found on fictional maps, is such a great tool. I've spent a lot of time studying and gaming warfare, on land, in the air, on and under the sea, in space, and now in the electronic spectrum. The ability for a simulation to capture the three dimensional nature of modern land warfare is rare. I know AB does it better than most commercial software.

Anyway....

Another view of the scenario's battle space. The

Can I ask why the challengers seem to be so short of 120mm Ammunition? 25 rounds each when they have a capacity for 64. apart from that the battle looks good and likely to bust me up (again)

I am using the default database, so maybe Nik will chime in on ammunition loadout. I am not as on remembering that data as I use to be, alothough I don't know of any tank firing 120mm ammunition that can carry 64 rounds.

Challenger uses two piece ammunition. Charges and HESH are stored in the fighting compartment, below the turret ring. APFSDS is stored in the turret bustle (i.e. in racks behind the crew) to reduce the catastrophic explosion chance in case of penetration. I don't remembered where I obtained the combat load, but it is not arbitrary and probably influenced by storage configuration. Tanks most of the time engage soft targets in real-life.
