Just trying to understand supply depots and require some clarification.

Extends the range of a supply chain if it is in supply itself from main or port supply or another supply
depot. The supply depot chain can be extended 3 times

So from the pic below:
Tubruk (has a main supply icon at it's port: size 4)
Therefore the supply depots that the Axis captured to extend supply lines are:
#1 (83,16) the SD below Tubruk
#2 (98,14) Sid Barrani
#3 (105,12) Chain ends.
These are being supplied by Tubruk and are the chain of 3. However,

there are two ports near by, Bardia (92,16) (Port Size 0) and Marsa Matrah (107,12) (Port Size 1). In fact, Marsa Matrah is at the end of the chain and providing port supply to the region past the supply depot chain. I'm wondering why #4, Buggush (116,10) is at supply level 1. If Marsa Matruh is providing port supply for the region, would this not start a new chain of three supply depots and Buggush should be at supply level 9? Is it because Marsa Matrah is not a main supply source(no supply icon at the port like Tubruk)?

Perhaps there is a minimum port size needed to start a chain?

System checks port/main supply does map supply calculation.

Stage 1 looks for all depots in supply. Extends their map supply
Stage 2 looks for all depots in supply. Extends their map supply
Stage 3 looks for all depots in supply. Extends their map supply

Some later stage depots that weren't in supply during stage one might be in supply when it hits their stage.

The best example is from 54, 9 extending across the desert Northeast.

Thank you for your response. Just looking for an easy way to identify on the map those ports to capture so the depots can be used to extend supply. Marsa Matrah doesn't have a port supply icon on it, is that why it doesn't activate Baggush as a supply depot?

The reason I ask the question above is because, supply can never be extended beyond Baggush. So you would have to make your way into the rest of Egypt without supply for at least 3 turn. The pic below shows what I mean:

Thanks Alvaro.
Thought you might also want to know:
The rail near Buggush was damaged by Partisans, it's been 4 months and it never gets repaired.

In the scenario you may want to keep a permanent unit in the port Baltim. The strategy I did to capture Port Alexandra was to rush my units over there (out of supply) and capture Baltim first because only an air units sits at the port. This provided my armor with the supply they needed to capture Port Alexandra. The AI didn't know what to do with Baltim. Even when I left it unguarded it never recaptured that port.
