I seem to have left my own thread . I understand the wish for no random elements but many boardgames use it and it can be good to create some variation. The players otherwise usually figures out the best way to do things and most games will look the same. We will see how the new rules will play out. I guess maybe it can be changed later or considered for Warplan 2.

I have no problem with random elements per se. It is just that this particular one will have such a huge outcome on the game. It would be like saying why don't we have a random element as to when the US joins the War with a 25% chance for December of each of 1940, 1941, 1942 or 1943. Okay, well maybe it is not quite like saying that, but it is pretty huge.

Random events can make things interesting and keep the game from becoming predictable. They just have to be small effects not game changers.
