Is that really my only option to fix the painful lag when moving units or anything (which is almost everything in this game)... turn off all sound effects? Bc I just tested it and, well, it worked. The game ran like the older editions (I've been playing since WGOY in '99) with no hanging whatsoever. With sound effects on, it can take up to 15-20 seconds for a single hex move or interdiction strike.
Why does the game have such trouble loading sound effects? I know they're not important to actually playing the game. But it's a very weird thing to have wrong with a game so much went into making.
Same here, sound misery. I sometimes get a hankering for the clickety-clack of the railroad track, or the plane sounds, to scratch that itch I just crank up something from you tuber.
Also, at least on my potato, killing the sidebars of "mini map" and the air report pane speeds response.
When I let Elmer PO move, I squeeze map down to 2D Small, kill all sidebars, and game speeds along nicely while Elmer moves.
But, yes, agreed, that I hope sound is tweaked in future.
