[FIXED] CMO won't run on my newest laptop. // Win 10 // X64

Post by Uzabit »

Hi there,

this issue isn't pressing right now since I mainly run games on my PC, but I would nevertheless like to fix this issue.
I've now bought a new Laptop because my old one is slowly falling apart. It would be nice two have a secondary option to run CMO while not at home.

After starting the launcher from the Steam Library, I can click play and the start up screen shows up (that with the rotating globe). It then shows "Loading, please wait...", but nothing happens. I've waited several minutes with no change. The menu simply doesn't appear. I've already deaktivated the preinstalled McAfee livescans and firewalls - with no luck. I also tried different startup settings in Steam but that didn't lead to any change in behaviour. The application seems to be active in the task manager, so it isn't completely hung up. Any ideas?

I've attached the DxDiag with my system information.

Let's go through the checklist:

* Is the OS fully updated? Graphics drivers updated? Direct-X 9 installed?
* Is Command running as admin? (ie. prompting you "are you sure you want to run this program" when you launch it)
* Are Steam overlays disabled for Command?
* Is Direct-Write disabled on the Steam client?
* Are all other applications (and especially hardware-helper apps like MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner etc.) shut down?
* Are you using Norton antivirus? (This POS is very frequently silently blocking file updates)

Okay,

I solved this problem. But it wasn't an issue on the checklist.

The issue was font and text scaling in windows. It is set to 125% by default by the vendor. Changed it to 100 % and CMO runs.

Is this a known problem? Maybe you can put that on the checklist. :-)

It is, and in the latest official update we have included a dedicated tool for this (4KFix.exe). Can you please give this a try and see if CMO will then run in 125% font size.

Hmm, using that tool gives me an unknown exception. The error message is unfortunately in German.

Did it also resolve the original issue?

Yep, the game now continues to the main menu and I can load a scenario. The icon and font size in the game is also adjusted accordingly.

Can you please try with this updated version? (see attached)

This version of 4KFix.exe worked for me. I had top copy it into my "Command - Modern Operations" folder and overwrite the version of 4KFix.exe already there. Then I executed 4KFix.exe.

This was after a fresh install of Command and I still needed to use this version of 4KFix.exe. In my case I was using a Thinkpad X1 Tablet 3rd Gen where the native resolution was 3,000 X 2,000 with the display scaled at 250% which was the recommended setting by WIndows.
