Sea Transport Capacity versus Loss of Ports

Post by Mark Breed »

It appears that Sea Transport is tied to a set number established by an event.

Is there a way to change the Sea Transport value based on loss of ports (Event Activated)? So, that the sum is continually reduced as more and more ports are captured.

As it is right now, I can only see a way for a one-time change based on the capture of a single port.

For example:
Event 1 sets a sea transport value of 100.
Event 2 capture of port (event activated) changes the sea transport value to 90.
Event 3 capture of port (event activated) changes the sea transport value to 90 (versus taking event 2 into account and making the value 80).
Event 4 capture of port (event activated) changes the sea transport value to 90 (versus taking events 2 & 3 into account and making the value 70).
Etc.

How can you account for previous ports being captured changing the value? Do I use an event with a variable value? If so, can there be multiple variable value events that have different counts for different purposes? For example, can I count ports taken as one variable to trigger events for supply and use a different variable track to trigger victory points or the release of reserves, etc.?

Thank you,
Mark

The Event Engine Variable [EEV] can do a lot but is also very limited [:)]

Capture Port #1 = EEV +1
Capture Port #2 = EEV +1
Capture Port #3 = EEV +1

EEV = 1 triggers Sea Transport 90
EEV = 2 triggers Sea Transport 80
EEV = 3 triggers Sea Transport 70

Now, what effect do you want if Port Ownership changes sides more than once?

If you try to use the EEV for anything else, it will be involved in the above [but for one aspect it is very useful]. However, if you put some thought to it, the EEV could be used for multiple events that are not related [if you are sure they will not interfere with each other].
