This will be the AAr where I play the Allies in the Scorched Earth

My opponent is welcome and can comment as much as he likes.

This game followed the same path as the other one. France fell in July. I inflicted a fair amount of damage on the Germans but they did not lose any units as I recall. The Axis spent the rest of 1940 going for Greece and Malta. Barbarossa was launched on the first turn of May. My Soviet army was small and I had kept a fair amount of inf corps (this was 1.06 version so not improved) and built some cav maybe 15-20. I saved a fair amount to build inf armies and was banking on surviving until they arrived. It worked but barely. My front line melted and on the first turn I lost Konev (didnt die luckily but the HQ was destroyed) so the whole summer campaign I had 2 5-5-6 HQ and 4 3-1-5s not fun (I got very little hq points maybe because my army was so small).

When the Germans approached Leningrad-Moscow-Stalino line my reinforcements arrived and the situation improved. I was helped greatly by cav units managing to cut supply to axis spearheads a couple of times in the early stages of the invasion. If that didnt happen it would have been far worse. In the end I lost Leningrad but managed to hold on to Moscow and my army size is at a nice level. The winter offensive have been as impotent as always. I find it hard to do anything as the Russians can barely find any 2-1 attacks even. And Soviet manpower is down to around 50% so dont want to take too much damage either.

In the Med the fighting in North Africa have been hard. The Germans have commited an arm corps and 2 inf corps so hard for the British to make any big gains. The British occupied Portugal and we are assembling troops there for invasion of north Africa as soon as spring comes.

The battle in the atlantic have been costly and I have spent a fair amount of resources on escorts and merchants.

I forgot to take screen shots of this game so will post some later.

Not much happening in the east. I try to attack a little but with very little to show for it. In the furthest south the Germans attacked a bit.

In the east not much happening. In cold weather I could attack a fair amount even shattered a mech corps but as soon as weather turns to snow or blizzard not much attacking can be done. I know the historical offensive in winter 41 was not all that impressive but it is hard even to recreate that. The German drop in effiency seems to me to be a bit too slow, most corps at the end of winter were still in the 8-11 range. And yes you can get the winterfighting improvement but it is only during the winter and cannot in my opinion be compared to the elite improvement. I think maybe at least the siberians should get the winterfighting for free.

Waiting for summer see if the Axis want to attack or if they will start to defend.

The Germans did not defend but broke through my line at Kalinin going north and briefly occupied Yaroslav. During the winter I managed to build a fair amunt of mech corps and they were around Moscow so moved them north. Managed to cut off the spearheads and managed to make an pz corps surrender and another one isolated. But Soviet troops already looking a bit worn down so we will se how it goes. Moscow might very well fall in a turn or 2 so it is very exciting .

In the Med the western allies launched Torch and it looks like the campaign in Tunisia might be a pretty short one but we will see. I dont know if it is a problem but the western allies are far ahead in their time schedule compared to history in general in this game.

Making small progress in eastern Africa to taking Benghazi.

On the eastern front things are calming down. Which is a good thing Soviet manpower down to 40%. Not sure how really we havent fought that much. Is it the loss of Moscow and Leningrad maybe? So looking at the German lines not sure how to get to Berlin if I cant lose any soldiers on the way tricky .

In the Mediterranean the British invade a empty Tirana. After some fearful naval battles the Italian navy is no more. I think it might have been planned to save some oil.

The allies are eyeing Sardinia or Sicily a full year ahead of schedule.

In the east there are some trading of blows butsummer is now coming to an end. I dont build that much units now mostly replacements but still the Soviet inf armies are in pretty bad shape. Manpower at 38%. Not sure if I will try and attack in the winter or try to buildup for next summer.

Not that much happening. Western allies wait for spring and the Soviets are down to 20% manpower a really bad situation and I am having a hard time to see the Soviets turning this around. Did manage to reclaim Moscow after huge losses this turn but not sure if I can keep it and not sure if it will improve manpower siutation but I hope so .

In the east the Soviets attack wherever they can at half decent odds. Inflict some damage but Soviet manpower might be down to 12-13% after this round.

On the first turn of June I launched the invasion of Italy with the aim at Taranto. Managed to take it with 3 arm corps and 3 inf corps landing in the first wave. This madeItalian surrender possible and since there were not all that many German garrisons most Italy converted to UK territory.

Note to self remember to Garrison Italian Surrender cities with German corps and other major ports and cities with divisions.

2nd turn of June invade southern France.

And in the west I launch a early D-day. I am trying to stretch the Germans so the Soviets maybe can make some progress.

The western allies are doing better. Most of Italy under Allied control and Paris falls 1 year early.

With German manpower down to 0 their units are quickly getting very weak so the end is pretty near.

It is over. The next turn Stettin fell and Germany surrendered. The game is still on because the brave Rumanians and Bulgarians are still fighting on but the game is of course over.

Thanks to my opponent, nice game well played.

Thanks to Panzermike for making the mod. It is really nice I really like the map.
