Alternative Strategy #2: Vis Per Mare (Strength From the Sea) 1942, Payback Pearl Harbor. Tired of watching Pearl Harbor get smoked and there's nothing you can do about it for 2 years because you're stuck in Europe following the Cookie Cutter? Down goes the USS Arizona, down goes the Philippines, Dutch East Indies, Singapore, etc. Japan creates a triangular web of Maritime Bombers. The Pacific Ocean is the personal property of Emperor Hirohito. As the Allied player, the Cookie Cutter has you selling chits and building Long Range Bombers for Europe, okay, I get that. But you look at the Pacific, you're scared to move a ship for 2 years, because the Akagi, Kaga & Hiryu will sink even a patrol effort, China is pushed back into the mountains, Japs pondering an attack on Russia, India, or Australia if you don't at least address the issue.
Here's how to immediately payback Japan for Pearl Harbor, because you know it's gonna happen:
1) Put 2-chits in Submarines
2) Build all the Submarines, there's a total of 8 in the force.
Extra credit moves:
3) Put chits into S&I, to get that tech to 3 for sure, maybe 4 when it's showtime
4) Bring British or Aussie navies to the party. With no DOW, you can position the Kingdom's in unlimited places
5) Look for a port to grab and hold inside the Japanese Triangle
6) Get some AVL ready
What to do? Have some fun. Before Japan can even think about their first post Pearl Harbor move, they will see the technology on the Submarine they will ambush South of Saipan. Your opponent is gonna see the #3 or #4 on that puppy, And they'll think, what's going on? Isn't my opponent suppose to be following the Cookie Cutter nation? Well, no, you're not.
Of those 8-submarines you've been building, on average 6+ of them will be ready to rock 'n roll. Double-click them immediately and head to the Far East. You don't need escorts, you don't need to be Admiral Farragut to figure this out. Ram right up the middle, because you're on the attack. There's no way the Japanese have anti-submarine technology. If the freak case, maybe level-1. Who cares, you're looking for Payback Pearl Harbor. Ignore any of your boring, wait 2 years to build a mega fleet with visibility. Let your fear go, think Doolittle. The rest depends on Japanese reaction. If the IJN runs or is hides, so be it. Raid all the blue convoy lines. You'll be taking 100 MMPs per turn. Sure, the Japs are gonna attack with air units, you'll have "Whack-A-Mole" defense at level 3+. Doesn't mean you stay in the same place, move the submarines. You'll have to make decisions based on suppply. Just depends. Whatever, you'll have a whole new game.
Here's 1-game, February 1942. Little help from the British. Japs gonna 'get some' on Saipan/SanJose
