OK, so I am new to this, and I may have missed something simple...

When you creating a new scenario, how do you set the initial map location and zoom, so that when the scenario file is opened, the play-box for the scenario is initially displayed?

(mine scenarios go to 0 lat 0 lon)

1. how do you do it in the GUI?
2. If this can be done in Lua scripting, how would you do that?

Its really complicated. First you have to move the camera to were you want it to be, then you save the scenario.

Yeah, I tried that, and when I opened the scenario, it comes back to 0 lat 0 lon. (did not work)
I was wondering if there was a different way, or some save setting that I missed. (or even a Lua way to do it)

No way I know of other than what Kushan mentioned which generally (not 100%) does work, maybe make sure your not zoomed out real far before saving? idk though never investigated it much the couple time is didn't work over the years, would be curious to what you find though.

Yeah it's not working that well now. It seems to re-open at the location where you last saved but at the zoom level of your very first save - or some such - really close in my case.

I've also noticed this. There is probably some logic behind why the game is doing this, but I have not figured it out.

One thing that I think does help is setting up a Quick Jump (Ctrl + #) view when building a scenario since it would seem that the view defaults to the view selected when the scenario was saved OR Quick Jump view #1. Have not done much testing for this but it seems to be the case.

Eureka! - That did it.

By setting up a Quick jump before saving when re-opening the scenario or any saves it centers on the quick jump at the appropriate zoom level.

Next pint is on me -C! Thank you

Actually I found that you need to click a point on the map and use the Z or X hot key and/or use the View-> Pan Map drop down to pan the map (Which I use a lot of the time) to make it set in that location or it jumps when you reload the scenario. I struggled with that for a while, in that if you just drag the map to where you want it centered the Scenario doesn't record that location and it jumps to where you started.

1. So a just dragged the map to this location and saved the scenario in the Scenario Editor without clicking on the map or using the zoom hot keys (and I think you have to click on the map to get that to work right).

2. Got out of the Editor and loaded the saved scenario and the map returned to the basic setting.

3. This time I clicked on the map where I wanted it centered and hit the X and Z keys several times.

4. then exited the editor and reloaded with the regular game play button and the map was centered where I wanted it.

So it seems like you have to pan the map with the drop down menu or hot keys to make it set even if you click on a part of the map. That's my story and I'm sticking too it!
