IMO, the overall pacific war is not really playable in TOAW. There's issues with the naval model (starting with those generic ships in the base game toe), there's no sea supply or interdiction of supply (people have to resort to either having supply points in each island (which means you cannot blockade them) or having the silly sea-roads (which means you can cut supply by sitting on a single hex)) and the AI cannot really cope with the peculiarities of the pacific war. The game was designed for the Korea scenario and it shows, operational land warfare works ok (if you ignore the supply model), but sea based warfare is a step too far for it. Also, there's a bug with planes in carriers that pretty much gooses the AI **.

** with credits to the original finder (user 'thomasharvey'):

quote:

Discovered and reported initially in January of 2018, https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4410801, it was thought at the time this was random. Air units on carriers became "Not Deployed" for unknown reasons. Now it is clear that any strike by sea, air or land on a hex containing one or more carriers with their carrier aircraft attached, creates the possibility of one or more air units becoming semi "Not Deployed." It is not really not deployed and unavailable in the ongoing scenario because the owner can fix that by flying the unit to any airfield. Then it is fully operational and can be flown back to the carrier. It is also possible to click the mouse cursor on the air unit and click on "rest", then it is fully operational again without flying to another airfield.

If the carrier that held the aircraft sustained more than 50% damage the air unit would have been destroyed because the carrier can't hold any air units. It is not necessary that the carrier sustain any damage for the Not Deployed air unit to be created.

Attached is a Pacific War grand Scenario with an Axis PO. It works only with the Axis as the PO. The human player must be the allies and take either Okinawa or Tokyo to defeat the Axis. Save the file to the Asia WW2 folder.

Hi Larry

The human player must be the allies. I want to know if anyone can take Okinawa or Tokyo before the last turn of the scenario.

Thanks.
