First off I need to apologize to MrsWargamer for stealing the thread on after the lockdown, I hope that wasn't me that got it closed!

Next, I got a phone call on Wednesday, got a cancellation and they wanted me in the hospital Thursday early!

Had to juggle the lawyer meeting for the living trust but the lawyer was pretty good and immediately came in to his office to sign and witness all that stuff. We were just down the street getting preoperational blood work. Then off to the county courthouse to record the new deed. We got home and started to relax and one of out dogs got sick...

So along comes Thursday AM I lose the left kidney and my wife has to take the dog in and they had to put it down (of all things!!!), never even got to say goodbye!

So here I am back home a day after I lose the kidney and a dog, we're kind of in a disbelief mode.

BTW The cancer was fully contained in the kidney, so that was good news! Sore as hell though!!

Very good news for you!

Sad news for the the dog.

quote:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Not only a quick recovery but here is a nice quip that you can use:

"I am not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!"

This would be true, although I kinda wished I stayed in the hospital an extra night. The doc made three incisions one for the kidney (the bigger one) one for the nitrogen pressure line and one for the scope to see what he was doing. The nitrogen pressure is what hurts the most every abdominal muscle I owned is stretched to the limit. And all those flabby abs have been cut.

I suppose that you could describe that to any woman who gave birth and they would say "Now you know what childbirth feels like!

Just don't watch too much comedy - those belly laughs could be a killer.

Also, get up and move around a little about every hour or so. Blood clots can be a real killer.

I'm glad to hear that the operation was successful! Hopefully, you'll make a speedy recovery!

I'm sorry to hear about Dexter! It is amazing how quickly our fur babies can win our hearts, and how heartbreaking it is to have to make the decision for them to pass. If there is any solace it is in the knowledge that he was rescued and found his home with his forever family!
