Hey all,

I did not manage to drop chaff by using the F-4s and its "Chaff bombs". The Chaff corridor seems to work nicely with the TU-16P etc, but not the F-4s in the Cold War DB.
How do you do that?

I didn't think chaff was dropped by F-4s in large areas. An F-4's chaff was only for self-defense and is automated.

Yes, it did in vietnam. Google "F-4 Chaff Bombs", then check the forum, and you will see that it was announced....but I cant make it work.

Are there chaff-laying F-4 loadouts in the CWDB ?

Dimitris, in a post in 2017 (Command v1.13 Update - 10/9/2017 12:17:07 PM ) you wrote for an update of CMANO:
"....An example of a dedicated chaff-laying aircraft is the Tu-16P Badger-H (#3030 in the CWDB) which has the suitable large-capacity chaff dinspenser; Some tactical aircraft such as the F-4 have dedicated chaff-laying loadouts (dispensers and chaff-bombs)....."

The specific loadout I tried was for the USAF F-4E 69-72: ANn/ALE-38 Chaff Dispenser, 6x MJU-1B Chaff Bombs (Chaff Dispenser).
I need that for a Linebacker scenario I am designing.

Should not be there or a WIP? What am I doing wrong?

There is for several versions of the F-4, including the Air Force 1972 -D version (aircraft ID#3048). The loadout ID is 10025.

The description for that loadout matches a strike mission profile, unlike the description of the chaff dispenser loadout for the chaff versions of the Tu-16P Badger H (loadout ID#39).

You mean, it is DB Flag issue perhaps?

That would be my guess, at least for the dispenser part. I don't know about the utilization of the chaff bombs.

Not true at all. F-4s carrying chaff bombs were an important part of the tactics during the Linebacker campaign. They'd typically fly in a 4 ship wall as the lead flight in a large strike package and drop the chaff bombs periodically where they'd fuse and explode in flight, laying a wide chaff corridor to mask the strikers. The chaff bombers at the front of the train had to fly in that line abreast formation in order to lay the chaff corridor, so they were a favorite target for Vietnamese MiGs. Therefore, more F-4s were required to protect the chaff bombers. There were also more flights devoted to SEAD, most likely F-105Gs with Shrikes, Standard ARMs, and maybe bombs. Then there were the strikers themselves. The lead aircraft would have the laser pods (which were rare at the time), and the rest would carry LGBs and buddy lase. The lasing striker was another great target because his maneuvering was constrained by the need to lase the target. They'd be supported by EB-66 and EC-131 aircraft providing AEW and standoff jamming support.

I'm seeing the same exact thing with the EA-3B late model with the Dedicated Chaff loadout. I go to lay down chaff with well over 3500 chaff canisters trying to create a corridor (in a bomb run) and nothing gets laid down. It does however, seem to "throw off chaff" when attacked, which was what I was worried about, meaning, it ignores the lay chaff continuously.

Why we get a loadout of 1156 chaff canisters on the EA-3B and not be able to lay down a chaff coridor?

Here is the aircraft loadout

Here is Chaff Dispenser here:

no automatic or OODA loops? You should be able to "lay down" chaff into the bombing run.
